How to obtain updates to the shareware version over the net:
If you have FTP access, you can always get the most up-to date version of
F-PROT by anonymous FTP from a number of sites.
We upload the program to oak.oakland.edu, and is is available shortly
thereafter on all the sites that "mirror" it. On those sites the program
can typically be found in a directory named "/pub/SimTel/msdos/virus",
"/pub/msdos/virus" or similar.
oak.oakland.edu 141.210.10.117
wuarchive.wustl.edu 128.252.135.4
archive.orst.edu 128.193.2.13
ftp.uu.net 192.48.96.9
ftp.funet.fi 128.214.6.100
src.doc.ic.ac.uk 146.169.2.1
ftp.switch.ch 130.59.1.40
archie.au 139.130.4.6
NCTUCCCA.edu.tw 140.111.1.10
ftp.technion.ac.il 132.68.1.10
In addition, it is also found on:
garbo.uwasa.fi 128.214.87.1
ftp.demon.co.uk 158.152.1.68
atlantis.utmb.edu 129.109.12.7
If you don't have FTP access, there is an automatic F-PROT mailer service
for users that would like to obtain the latest version of the F-PROT
shareware product directly from the source.
To use this service, you send an E-mail message to f-prot@complex.is
This is an experimental service and for now, the following commands are
offered:
send-as: form
The 'send-as' command signifies the encoding that should be used in sending
the file over email channel. 'form' must be one of: 'uue' or 'xxe'
Please note that this line _must_ be present!
Examples:
If joe.user@some.machine.in.the.world would like to get a uuencoded copy of
f-prot, he would send a message containing the following in the body to
'f-prot@complex.is' :
send-as: uue
If he wanted it in a xxencoded form, he would send the following:
send-as: xxe
Another feature that is available is to check the version of f-prot
available through this mailserver. To see the version, send the following
to the 'f-prot@complex.is' address:
send-version
Comments about this service should be addressed to: f-prot-request@complex.is
Suggestions for improvements are welcomed.
