  35. It is now posible to run MXFER command line transfer with a minimise option.
  36. By placing /M within the command line MXFER will run minimised.

  40. You can now change the size of the printer font used when using EDIT and 
  41. PrintAll from within a TE. Create a line within the [MultiView] section of 
  42. MVIEW.INI called,

  143. JSB MultiView DeskTop will now Windows Sockets enable your PC, allowing you
  144. to support a multitude of Winsock applications, such as the explosion in
  145. Internet utilities, and freely available shareware utilities.
  146.  
  147. This can be installed in two ways :-
  148.  
  149. If you install the JSB supplied TCP/IP stack this now includes a Windows
  150. Sockets interface.
  151. If you have an existing legacy TCP/IP stack supported by DeskTop, this will
  152. now Windows Sockets enable it.

  154. 3.2  Easier installation.
  155.  
  156. A simpler and more intuitive installation procedure which is aware of the
  157. networked environment you may be using, ensures 'out of the box'
  158. installation is even easier. From opening the box to installing on an
  159. existing transport takes less than 4 minutes, and only 5 minutes if the JSB
  160. TCP/IP transport is installed.

  162. 3.3  Improved terminal emulator performance.
  163.  
  164. Terminal emulators are now 30% faster than the previous release.

  166. 3.4  High performance network printing.
  167.  
  168. Support has been added for the popular UNIX network printing utilities LPR
  169. and LPD, these provide higher performance and simpler printer management
  170. between PC and UNIX systems over a TCP/IP network.

  172. The new improved remote printing support utilizing LPR functionality to
  173. print over TCP/IP is over 300% faster than the mechanism previously
  174. provided.

  176. 3.5  Improved performance using Host Support.
  177.  
  178. Performance improvements to the Host Support connectivity have resulted in
  179. significant gains when using File Transfer and Remote printing.

  181. PC -> UNIX file transfers are now up to 95% faster and Remote printing,
  182. PC -> UNIX are now up to 90% when compared with the previous release.

  186. The existing comprehensive range of terminal emulations has been further
  187. enhanced by the addition of new DEC VT320 and VT420 terminal emulations,
  188. giving you even more choice.

  190. 3.7  Extended key mapping and programming.

  192. The key mapping and programming facility has been improved, there is now a 
  193. choice of over 300 keys which can be mapped and programmed using the DeskTop
  194. interface, providing even greater flexibility for customizing applications
  195. and the user interface.

  197. 3.8  Improved font support.

  199. The font range has been expanded with the addition of 4 new font styles, and
  200. extended point sizes for existing styles for VGA and SVGA video display
  201. drivers, allowing optimum use of the display real estate.

  203. 3.9  SCO color console support.
  204.  
  205. SCO color console now available as a standard terminal type.

  207. 3.10 Technical help file.

  209. A new technical help file for the advanced DeskTop user or system 
  210. administrator, simplifies complex configuration features.

  212. 3.11 NVT2 support over IPX/SPX.

  214. Support is now provided for the latest NVT (Novell Virtual Terminal version
  215.  2) protocol over IPX/SPX, this is the protocol used to provide terminal
  216. emulation services on UnixWare hosts or other UNIX systems supporting
  217. Portable NetWare. DeskTop automatically detects and supports NVT1 or NVT2
  218. transparently without the user needing to intervene, thereby allowing
  219. support for mixed networks.

  221. 3.12 New ICL Oslan support.
  222.  
  223. ICL Oslan is now supported at this release of DeskTop. DeskTop interfaces to
  224. OSLAN via Interrupt 5B. This is also referred to as the Transport Service
  225. Interface (TSI) in the OSLAN documentation. DeskTop only supports the null
  226. network layer protocol at this release, as described in the OSLAN
  227. documentation. Since DeskTop is a Windows application, you must use either
  228. the OSLAN for Windows option that uses a VxD or the Virtual TSI Windows 
  229. device driver.

  231. Although this new support has only been validated against ICL Oslan version 
  232. 4, it should work with previous versions that have inherent support for 
  233. Windows.

  295. Problem: Using IP addresses instead of node names gave errors and failed to 
  296.      save the command (CMD) files correctly.
  297. Status:  Fixed. The name of the default CMD file will be the characters up
  298.      to the first period, e.g. 123.456.789.1 would be called "123.CMD".

  302. Problem: Using File Transfer a second time caused the program to GPF.

  307. Problem: Quickly re-entering File Transfer and connecting to the same node,
  308.      (using FTP) would cause File Transfer to freeze for about 2 minutes
  309.      with "200 PORT command successful".

  355. Problem: Some application icons are not displayed correctly or the
  356.      incorrect icon was displayed.

  361. Problem: File Transfer was not shown in the list of active applications and
  362.      was not included by Snapshot.

  365. 4.14  Key programming ignored when used with a deferred node.

  367. Problem: On creating a node with key programming and then logging in using
  368.      a deferred node, the key sequences were ignored and the default was
  369.      used.

  372. 4.15  Shift key ignored when used with a button bar.
  373.  
  374. Problem: If a button on a button bar was configured as a shifted PC Keytop
  375.      command, this key would be ignored.

  378. 4.16  Visual Basic scripting fails to pickup the DDE topic.

  380. Problem: When using Visual Basic scripting to login into a remote system,

  386. Problem: Printing from some applications caused error messages stating 
  387.      printing could not be processed or print jobs were not printed at

  391. 4.18  Installing DeskTop with WfWgs using an NDIS driver.

  393. Problem: Installing DeskTop with Windows for Workgroups using the Microsoft
  394.      TCP/IP stack caused the installation to fail with a message 
  395.      relating to an NDIS network being detected and, to reinstall WfWgs
  396.      network package to use ODI before running DeskTop.
  397. Status:  Fixed.

  399. 4.19  Cursor disappearing when the Palette is minimized.
  400.  
  401. Problem: Minimizing the Palette for any terminal emulator windows loses
  402.      the cursor until you start typing.
  403. Status:  Fixed.

  405. 4.20 Option availability when "config=no" is set.

  407. Problem: "Save Size On Exit", "Add To Program Manager" menu options and the
  408.      Snapshot button on the DeskTop Toolbar are still available for use
  409.      when "config=no" is set in MVIEW.INI.

  412. 4.21 Multiple applications failed to start
  413.  
  414. Problem: Selecting several applications from DeskTop and using the run 
  415.      command, failed to run the applications.
  416. Status:  Fixed.

  418. 4.22 Carriage return added to copy and paste function
  419.  
  420. Problem: A carriage return is always added to the last line when pasting a
  421.      line or block.
  422. Status:  Fixed.

  424. 4.23 Errors installing DeskTop when Windows is installed in a root directory
  425.  
  426. Problem: Cannot install DeskTop when Windows is installed in the root 
  427.      directory eg C:\.
  428. Status:  Fixed.

  430. 4.24 DEC terminal emulator cursor pad keys not working with palette
  431.  
  432. Problem: Mapping PC Keytops within the Palette did not work with DEC
  433.      terminal emulator.
  434. Status:  Fixed.

  436. 4.25 GPF when File Transfer from empty directory
  437.  
  438. Problem: When attempting to transfer a directory's contents, such as
  439.      /usr/demo/* or C:\MYDIR\*.*, which are empty, MXFER would GPF.
  440. Status:  Fixed.

  442. 4.26 Stack Overflow when printing with EP & DP escape sequences
  443.  
  444. Problem: MTERM would fail with a Stack Overflow fault when sending a large
  445.      number of print jobs by use of the enable/diisable AUX printing
  446.      capability of DEC terminals (EP/DP). 
  447. Status:  Fixed.

  449. 4.27 Undocumented SCO ANSI console color sequence not supported
  450.  
  451. Problem: For the SCO color console terminal emulation, the undocumented
  452.      color setting sequence, ESC[2;x;xm, was not supported. Where x is
  453.      a SCO color reference number in the range 0 - 15.
  454. Status:  Fixed.

  456. 4.28 DeskTop DLL "BUTTONS.DLL" name clash with Lotus SmartSuite
  457.  
  458. Problem: The DeskTop file, BUTTONS.DLL, conflicted with a file of the same
  459.      name in the Lotus SmartSuite application causing one of the
  460.      applications not to load.
  461. Status:  Fixed.

  463. 4.29 Unable to switch out of scancode mode
  464.  
  465. Problem: The DeskTop sequence to switch out of scan code mode, ESC~4, did
  466.      not work. This had the effect of leaving the keyboard in scan code
  467.      mode which results in unpredictable behavor by the application.
  468.  
  469.      The sequences for using scan code mode have been changed to ESC-4
  470.      and ESC-5, which corresponds to the on-line documentation.
  471. Status:  Fixed.

  473. 4.30 File Transfer problems on TI 1500 systems
  474.  
  475. Problem: Using FTP to connect to a TI 1500 system, navigating or viewing
  476.      directories is not possible.
  477. Status:  Fixed.

  479. 4.31 LPD problems on TI 1500 systems
  480.  
  481. Problem: LPD print jobs generated by a TI1500 system are not printed
  482.      successfully.
  483. Status:  Fixed.

  485. 4.32 2 Extra Carriage returns sent by TE's
  486.  
  487. Problem: If a Terminal Emulator is run directly from program manager and no
  488.      remote command is configured, two extra Carriage Returns are sent
  489.      to the application after logging in.
  490. Status:  Fixed.

  492. 4.33 Configurable mouse driven paste
  493.  
  494. Problem: Mouse driven paste, where a double left click automaticaly pastes
  495.      marked up in the Terminal Emulator window, 
  496.  
  497.      To disable mouse driven paste, as outlined above, add the following
  498.      line to the [multiview] section of the MVIEW.INI file located in
  499.      your Windows directory,
  500.  
  501.      quickpaste=no
  502. Status:  Fixed.

  504. 4.34 80/132 column switching problems
  505.  
  506. Problem: The correct font was not selected when switching between 80 and
  507.      132 column modes. The automatic narrow font selection (when going
  508.      80 to 132 columns) is disabled by default. 
  509.  
  510.      To enable automatic narrow font selection as described above, add
  511.      the following line to the [multiview] section of MVIEW.INI
  512.  
  513.      autonarrowfonts=yes
  514. Status:  Fixed.

  516. 4.35 Printing from PowerPoint using the LPR method
  517.  
  518. Problem: When trying to print from Powerpoint, error 7 would be given and
  519.      no printing would take place. 
  520. Status:  Fixed.

  522. 4.36 PC hangs when closing Windows
  523.  
  524. Problem: With DeskTop as the Windows shell, closing Windows was not quiting
  525.      correctly with the PC hanging in some instances.
  526. Status:  Fixed.

  528. 4.37 CR/LF being stripped by LPD when using the JSB transparent print driver
  529.  
  530. Problem: If LPD received information saying that the print job was a text
  531.      file, LPD formatted it in order for it to be printed on a text
  532.      print driver. However, when using the JSB transparent print driver
  533.      with normal text files no formatting should take place.
  534. Status:  Fixed.

  536. 4.38 GPF when using DDE in a Microsoft Word 6 macro.
  537.  
  538. Problem: There is a problem when DeskTop uses DDE links to Word 6 and Visual
  539.      Basic which results in a GPF.
  540. Status:  Fixed.

  542. 4.39 VT220 user defined shifted function key programming 
  543.  
  544. Problem: The VT220 terminal emulator doesn't support programmable, (shifted)
  545.      function keys. The VT220 UDK programming functionality has been
  546.      modified to match the behavor of this feature on a physical VT220.
  547. Status:  Fixed.

  552.      switched on, when a connection is attemped the PC appears to freeze
  553.      for a time.  The amount of time the PC is frozen before an error
  554.      message is displayed is dependant upon the TCP/IP being used, with
  555.      some TCP/IP stacks the PC stays frozen and the PC has to be re-booted. 
  556.      The default timeout can be shortened to a user-defined period via a
  557.      VSL.INI keyword. You must edit the VSL.INI file, which is located
