  4. If you are upgrading from a previous version of Free Agent:

  6. -  You can unzip the ZIP file directly into the directory where your
  7.    previous copy of AGENT.EXE lives.
  8.  
  9. -  The Release Notes for this version of Free Agent are in the online
  10.    help.  These notes describe improvements and bug fixes that have 
  11.    been made since the last release.   To view the notes, run Free 
  12.    Agent and select Release Notes from the Help menu.

  16. Free Agent requires the following:

  18. 1. Windows 3.1 or greater, or Windows NT 3.5.
  19.  
  20. 2. A TCP/IP driver that supports winsock 1.1 applications.
  21.    Agent has been tested with the following drivers:

  23.    - Trumpet Winsock 2.0B and 2.1B
  24.    - NetManage Chameleon 3.11N
  25.    - Microsoft TCP/IP-32 for Windows for Workgroups 3.11
  26.    - Microsoft Windows NT 3.5 TCP/IP
  27.    - Microsoft Windows 95 with Microsoft TCP/IP
  28.    - Spry dialer (Internet in a Box; CompuServe)
  29.    - NetCruiser 1.6

  31. 3. Access to an NNTP news server.
  32.    For posting email, access to an SMTP mail server.

  35. Follow these steps to install Free Agent:
  36.  
  37. 1. Create a directory on your hard disk for Free Agent and copy the
  38.    contents of this ZIP file to the directory.
  39.  
  40. 2. Make an icon for Free Agent in Program Manager.  To do this, choose
  41.    New from the File menu and select the Program Item option.  Fill in
  42.    the Program Item Properties dialog box as shown in the example
  43.    below:

  45.       Description:       Free Agent
  46.       Command Line:      c:\agent\agent.exe
  47.       Working Directory: c:\agent
  48.  
  49. 3. The first time you run Free Agent, it will prompt you for the
  50.    information it needs to operate.

  52. 4. Once you have supplied the necessary setup information and Free Agent
  53.    is operational, press F1 to display the online help.
