  9. Internet Sidekick.  Please read the entire document. You may also

  12. If you have the Lite version of Internet Sidekick, it includes 
  13. most, but not all, of the features of the full Internet Sidekick. 
  14. For details, see Section 3.

  34. Please note the following information about installing:
  35.  
  36. *  To use Internet Sidekick, you must be running Windows 95 or 
  37.    Windows NT 4.0.

  39. *  Be sure to close Sidekick 95 and its Quick Menu before installing
  40.    Internet Sidekick. To remove the Quick Menu, choose the Remove
  41.    command from its menu.

  118. 3. ABOUT THE LITE VERSION
  119. =========================

  121. If you have the Lite version of Internet Sidekick, some features
  122. are not available. Once you unlock the Lite version, all features
  123. are fully functional.

  125. The following Internet Sidekick features are not available in 
  126. the Lite version.

  138. 4. UNIMODEM V
  139. =============

  141. Some telephony features, such as Caller ID, require use of
  142. Microsoft's Unimodem V driver. 
  143.  
  144. You can download the Unimodem V driver from the Starfish Software
  145. Web site, at http://www.starfishsoftware.com/cool/cool.html.
  146. (Note that the manual erroneously states that the Unimodem V
  147. driver is included with the product.)

  149. The latest version of the Unimodem V driver is available at the
  150. Microsoft Web site,

  153. Note: If you do not have a voice modem compatible with Unimodem V, do
  154. not install the Unimodem V driver. See your modem documentation, or
  155. contact the manufacturer, to see if it supports Unimodem V.

  159. 5. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
  160. =============================
  161.  
  162. Q1: Can Internet Sidekick be installed to a network directory?
  163. A1: No. Install will give you an error message when you do so. In
  164.     addition, you should not use your data files if they are stored on
  165.     a network directory that does not support long filenames.
  166.  
  167. Q2: I use Microsoft Exchange Inbox for my e-mail. However, after 
  168.     installing other MAPI-compliant software, I could not use 
  169.     Exchange for Internet Sidekick's scheduling features. What could
  170.     the problem be?
  171. A2: This may be due to the fact that some MAPI-compliant
  172.     applications, like Eudora Pro 2.2, replace the original Microsoft
  173.     MAPI DLLs with their own customized versions. See the Eudora Pro
  174.     documentation, or visit the Qualcomm Web site, for configuration
  175.     details.
  176.  
  177. Q3: Can I import Lotus Organizer 96 address book information?
  178. A3: No, Organizer 96 and Organizer 97 formats are not supported in this 
  179.     release.
  180.  
  181. Q4: I did not hear the alarm go off for an appointment that had an  alarm.
  182. A4: To hear alarms, you must be sure that Internet Sidekick is running and 
  183.     the Calendar has been loaded. The best way to be sure the Calendar is 
  184.     available is to set Calendar as your default view. Choose Tools| 
  185.     Preferences|General, and select Calendar as the Default Deskpad View. 
  186.  
  187. Q5: The e-mail addresses in my Cardfile are not being recognized for group 
  188.     event scheduling.  Why not?
  189. A5: Specific key words must appear in the field names for the fields to be
  190.     recognized correctly.  For Internet addresses (such as jsmith@xyz.com), 
  191.     the word "Internet" must appear in the field name. Other key words are 
  192.     AOL, CompuServe, Fax, Exchange, phone. These terms can appear anywhere
  193.     in the field name. To change field names, use the Cards|Define Fields
  194.     command.

  208. 6.   The Electronic User's Guide
  209. ================================

  211. An electronic version of the User's Guide is available from the Starfish 
  212. Software Web site. The Adobe(tm) Acrobat(tm) Reader is required to 
  213. use this electronic User's Guide; the Acrobat reader is also available from 
  214. our Web site.

  216. After installing the Acrobat reader, you will be able to double-click the 
  217. SIS-man.pdf file to read it. Instructions on how to use Adobe Acrobat are 
  218. included in the User's Guide, and in the Acrobat reader's online Help system.

  220. The manual discusses features of the full product, including those that are 
  221. not available in the Lite version.
