  21.        IT IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO MAKE A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL DISKETTE
  22.                  AND USE ONLY THE COPY IN DAY TO DAY WORK.

  24. To install ADinf in your machine, insert the diskette containing
  25. the ADinf program into drive A (or B whichever is appropriate to
  26. your system), log on to the ADINF directory with the commands
  27.  
  28. > a: (or b:) and press Enter
  29.  
  30. > cd: \adinf and press Enter
  31.  
  32. and type
  33.  
  34. > install
  35.  
  36. and press Enter, and answer all the questions of the setup program.
  37.  
  38. Depending on whether this is the first time your are installing  in  your
  39. system or whether you are upgrading an earlier version, the Setup program
  40. behaves differently.

  42.    IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE INSTALLING ADINF IN YOUR MACHINE:
  43. on pressing <Enter> after typing the installation command line, you will
  44. be prompted to

  51. If you accept the directory proposed by the Setup program, press <Enter>.
  52. Or, type a different pathname and press <Enter>. If you yourself have not
  53. created a directory for installing ADinf, on pressing <Enter>,  the Setup
  54. will respond as follows:

  64. Press <Enter> to create a directory.  Then the Setup creates a directory
  65. and after copying the files to it, displays a query:

  75. If you want to tack ADinf  to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file, press <Enter>;  else
  76. choose DON'T  ADD.  If you  choose ADD,  on pressing  <Enter>, you will be
  77. prompted to mark the drives you want to put under check by ADinf:

  85. Moving the up arrowhead cursor with <Right>, <Left> or <Tab> keys from one
  86. letter to another, mark the drives with the <Space> or <Ins> key for which
  87. you want to create diskinfo tables. Press <Enter> to finish your selection.

  89. Then the screen will show your  AUTOEXEC.BAT file, typing each entry in  a
  90. separate line.  Using the <Up>  or  <Down> keys, move the selection bar to
  91. the place where you want to tack the ADinf command line to the AUTOEXEC.BAT
  92. file and press <Enter>.  Your old  AUTOEXEC.BAT  file will be  renamed  to
  93. AUTOEXEC.ADI.  If you do not want to modify the  AUTOEXEC.BAT  file, press
  94. the <Esc> key.  Then the Setup program will respond as follows:

  104. If you answer  CREATE, then before building up diskinfo  tables, the Setup
  105. program  prompts  you  to  change  the  default  name  of  the  table file
  106. Adinf══.░░░.   The point is that in future  viruses  may be  specifically
  107. designed to dodge  detection  by  ADinf.  Today there is already  a virus,
  108. which  tries  to  delete  the  files  whose  names  begin  with the letter
  109. combination  ADIN.   For  this  reason  the  Setup  program invites you to
  110. rename the diskinfo  tables file.   You can change  to any name  you like,
  111. the main idea is to goof such  viruses.  Regardless of whether or not  you
  112. rename the file, press <Enter> to finish installation.

  115.   IF YOU ARE UPGRADING AN OLDER VERSION ALREADY INSTALLED IN YOUR MACHINE,
  116. the installation procedure is the same as described above, but  the  Setup
  117. program will ask your permission to overwrite the old ADinf version in the
  118. system. It will not prompt you to tack ADinf to your AUTOEXEC.BAT file nor
  119. will it create diskinfo tables afresh because later versions recognize and
  120. use the tables created by earlier versions.
