"NetWare 4.1 enhanced services provide more advanced computing functionality that extend the capabilities provided by the core services. Whereas Novell believes that the core services are of general interest and use, customers will typically only install and use those enhanced services that meet their particular computing needs. Enhanced services also leverage the core services themselves, taking advantage of NDS, file and print services, routing, etc. Thus the collection of enhanced services represents more functionality than is likely to be used on any single server. These enhanced services also typically encompass Novell and third-party products, and include available implementations of the following:
Imaging
Supports incorporation, identification, storage, and tracking of images on a network.
Document Management
Supports routing, tracking, version control, and access to shared online documents and document collections.
Workflow
Incorporates document routing and tracking, business process modeling, and other activities to route work assignments and packages via the network, rather than manual routing with paper. Supports video conferencing of still and moving video images across the network.
Telephony
A Telephony Services API (TSAPI) has been defined to integrate PBXs or local telephone switches with NetWare 4.1 servers, supporting call management and call routing. Further, TSAPI enhancements like graphical, customizable pull-down call menus, call logging, and call annotation soon will further increase the synergy between computers and telephones.
