  2. all the information regarding this demo and the full game.

  5. game select exit from the menu and type 'DEMO'

  25. 1.0 About The Game
  26. ------------------

  28. Slipstream 5000 is a fast and furious TRUE 3D racing game set in
  29. the near future. Each player adopts the role of the ten selectable
  30. pilots. Competing in a gruelling 10 race season to become the
  31. Ultimate Slipstreamer. The ten race tracks feature famous
  32. locations around the world. You can zoom down the river Thames in 
  33. London, or shoot past the Sphinx in Egypt. The only track featured in
  34. the demo is Arizona USA where you will be flying at breakneck speed
  35. down a course we've constructed at the Grand Canyon. In the demo 
  36. you'll be competing against 4 other Slipstreamers.
  37. There will be 10 of them in the finished game.

  39. 2.0 Controls
  40. ------------

  42. This Slipstream 5000 demo is controlled using Joystick or keyboard
  43. The mouse is only used for the menu systems at the moment
  44. but we will include it as a full option in the finished game.

  46. 2.1 Option Page
  47. ---------------

  49. Here there are two options, Start Demo or Configuration. If
  50. you select Configuration you will be presented with another screen
  51. displaying other options, the one to concentrate on is DETAIL. From
  52. this option you can adjust the game to suit your machine's speed. 
  53. All the options are configured to work on a Very Fast PC such as
  54. a Pentium. By altering the various settings in the DETAIL menu you 
  55. will be able to set the game to play smoothly if you have a slower
  56. PC. Experiment with these settings to get the best 
  57. configuration for your machine. All the other options are 
  58. self explanatory so I won't go into these in detail. The other 
  59. option is START DEMO. Guess what? This will take you into the demo.

  61. 3.0 Selecting a ship
  62. --------------------

  64. You're going to need a ship to race in. When this screen appears 
  65. you will see all the available ships. Move the cursor over the ship
  66. you want and press the mouse button (or if you are using the
  67. cursor keys, just hit return). The driver of this ship will 
  68. appear with the commands; Accept, Cancel, and View. 
  69. The first two are obvious and the View icon will show you 
  70. the chosen craft in glorious 3D.

  72. 4.0 The Race

  75. Down to business. When you begin the starting line-up will appear.
  76. Unfortunately you're in last place because we haven't included 
  77. the 'Qualify' section in this demo. You can race using either 
  78. the joystick or keyboard. Keep an eye out out for the blue tunnel 
  79. entrance which leads you to the pit repair zone, fly through this 
  80. your ship recharges back to full efficiency.

  107. There is no brake (these are flying craft) but if you stop 
  108. holding down the throttle you will slow down quickly.

  110. 4.3 Camera Controls
  111. -------------------

  113. During the race, fly-through and demos of other tracks you
  114. can change camera views using the function keys as follows:
  115.  
  116.    F1 - Cockpit, F2 - Chase, F3 - Rear, F4 - TV, F5 - Free
  117.  
  118. When using the "Free" camera you can view your ship from any angle
  119. and distance by using the Ins, Del, PgUp, PgDn, Plus and Minus keys
  120. on your numeric keypad to move the camera around.

  122. 5.0 Troubleshooting
  123. -------------------

  125. The Slipstream 5000 Demo must be installed onto a hard drive in
  126. order for it to work.

  137. If you have problems running the SlipStream 5000 demo then check
  138. the following:

  140.   Have you got at least 4 Megs of Memory free?
  141.   Have you configured the sound card properly?

  145. This demo is just a taster for the full game, the finished product
