  15. *** You may need to upgrade your COMCTL32.DLL ***
  16. This version includes a file named 
  17. Com32upd.exe that will upgrade your 
  18. COMCTL32.DLL.  You will need to run 
  19. this program file if you encounter 
  20. a problem with the Windows 95 Explorer 
  21. file/folder properties dialog.  The 
  22. problem is that you will see the 
  23. properties dialog extends past the 
  24. right edge of the screen and no matter 
  25. how much you drag it to the left, you 
  26. will never see the right edge of the 
  27. properties dialog.

  29. To determine if you need to upgrade your 
  30. COMCTL32.DLL you should install FileNotes. 
  31. After installing FileNotes, open the 
  32. Windows 95 Explorer and right Click on a 
  33. File or Folder.  Select Properties from the 
  34. right click menu.  If the properties dialog 
  35. does not display correctly then you need to 
  36. upgrade your COMCTL32.DLL.

  38. Features and Limitations
  39. ------------------------
  40. FileNotes integrates with Windows 95 to
  41. allow you to keep notes about all your 
  42. files and folders.  You create and access
  43. all your notes through the Windows 95
  44. Explorer.  To access and create notes, 
  45. simply right click the mouse on any file 
  46. or folder.  FileNotes can be accessed by
  47. right clicking on any folder or file object
  48. on the system including the desktop and 
  49. file open dialog boxes.

  51. The notes that you create will follow 
  52. your files and folders whereever you copy
  53. them.  When you copy or move a file or 
  54. folder, the new files created will have 
  55. the same note as the original.

  57. When you use the Windows 95 Explorer to 
  58. delete a file, the note will follow the 
  59. file to the recycle bin so that if you 
  60. restore the file, the note will also be 
  61. restored.  Unfortunately, this version 
  62. will not preserve notes for folders that 
  63. are sent to the recycle bin.

  65. FileNotes includes the FileNotes Explorer 
  66. that allows you to quickly find, review, 
  67. add and update your notes.  The FileNotes 
  68. Explorer can be accessed from either the 
  69. Start | Programs menu or from the Windows 
  70. Explorer right click menu.

  72. This version of FileNotes does not support 
  73. short file names.  This means that when you 
  74. move or copy files and folders in a DOS box, 
  75. you must use the long file name if you want 
  76. your notes to follow your files and folders.  
  77. Remember that if your long file name has a 
  78. space in it you must put double quotes around 
  79. it.  Also note that the short and long filenames 
  80. are the same for files with names within the 8.3
  81. format.
