The database library template is a special template used to create a database that records and stores information about the databases on a Notes server.
The database library can contain a list of public databases. If a user sees a database of interest, he/she can contact the database's manager and ask for access to it.
To the Server Administrator/Database Manager:
Access Control List:
The Access Control List (ACL) is set up so that by default, the server is defined as manager. Immediately after the Database Library is created, the server administrator should change the ACL to make him/herself manager of the database.
The default access is Reader.
The administrator maintains the ACL. He/she may change the default access or add additional managers.
Tip: The administrator can modify the ACL to adjust which servers' databases appear in the library. See the Lotus Notes

About the Database Library:
Read (and maybe print) this information. Replace the current contents with a paragraph or two that explains the purpose of this database, its audience, and how to contact the manager(s).

Using the Database Library:
Be sure to update the Using Database document. It should give users specific information on the use of the database.

3. A list of available library databases appears. Select a database library and click OK.
4. The library document appears, and you can fill in an Abstract or a Description of the database your are publishing.
5. Hit ESC to save/close the document.
Database Librarianso
Switch to the Librarians view and edit the document in the view. This document contains a list of people authorized to publish databases to the library. All users listed as librarians must have at least Author access to the library database, and must have access to "Create Documents" in the Access Control List. y
If an unauthorized user attempts to publish a database, they are given the option of sending a publish request to the librarians.
