  5. The purpose of FileNotes
  6. ------------------------
  7. FileNotes provides the user with the ability
  8. to add notes to Win95 file and folder objects.
  9. FileNotes integrates with Windows 95 to allow
  10. the user to access their notes through the
  11. shell menu Properties selection.  The notes
  12. created by the user will remain with the file
  13. and folder objects when they are moved, copied
  14. or renamed.
  15.  
  16. How to install FileNotes
  17. ------------------------
  18. Installation of FileNotes is very easy.  Create a folder
  19. to unzip the contents of the fn95v31.zip file.  Then run
  20. the setup.exe program from this folder.
  21.  
  22. Updated COMCTL32.DLL
  23. --------------------
  24. You may encounter a problem when open a properties dialog
  25. for files/folders from the Windows 95 Explorer.  The problem
  26. is that you will see the properties dialog extends past the
  27. right edge of the screen and no matter how much you drag it
  28. to the left, you will never see the right edge of the properties
  29. dialog.
  30.  
  31. This is due to your computer having an old version of the
  32. COMCTL32.DLL in your Windows System subdirectory.  To fix
  33. the problem, you simply extract the Com32Upd.exe from this
  34. zip file and run it.  This will upgrade your COMCTL32.DLL
  35. and will resolve the problem with the properties dialog.

  37. How to unistall FileNotes
  38. -------------------------
  39. FileNotes can be uninstalled from the Add/Remove Programs
  40. icon in the Windows 95 Control Panel.  Click on the
  41. Add/Remove Programs icon, then select FileNotes from the
  42. dialog box and click the Add/Remove button.  You should
  43. restart your computer before uninstalling.  Be sure you
  44. do not have a Windows Explorer open before restarting.

  46. After restarting your computer you should stop the
  47. FileNotes Monitor by clicking on the icon in system Tray
  48. (the small inset on taskbar that usually displays the time).
  49. Uninstall FileNotes immediately after restarting your
  50. computer

  52. Status of FileNotes provided through fn95v31.exe
  53. ----------------------------------------------
  54. fn95v31.zip contains the setup files that will
  55. install the evaluation copy of FileNotes v3.1.
  56. This version is a freely distributable shareware version
  57. subject to the following licensing terms:

  62. of FileNotes ONLY FOR THE TRIAL USE OF OTHERS subject to the

  73. acquire the diskette does NOT relieve said purchaser from paying
  74. the Registration Fee for FileNotes if said purchaser uses
  75. FileNotes.
