  6. RUNNING NETWARE ADMINISTRATOR UNDER OS/2
  7. NetWare 4.1 does not have a native OS/2 version of NetWare Administrator.
  8. To run NetWare Administrator under OS/2, use VLM Boot.

  14. LOCATION OF VLM BOOT ICON
  15. Once you've installed VLM Boot, the icon is located on the OS/2 desktop, not
  16. in the Novell folder as documented.

  19. REINSTALLING NETWARE CLIENT FOR OS/2 AND VLM BOOT
  20. VLM Boot creates specific environment in order for it to run properly.
  21.  
  22. If you've installed NetWare Client for OS/2 and VLM Boot and you choose to
  23. reinstall NetWare Client for OS/2, you must also reinstall VLM Boot to restore
  24. the proper environment.

  27. MAKEDISK.CMD
  28. To make diskettes of NetWare Client for OS/2 software, type MAKEDISK.CMD
  29. at the OS/2 command line.

  32. SPX SEND TIMEOUT NET.CFG SETTING
  33. The  default and ranges for the SPX SEND TIMEOUT NET.CFG setting in
  34. NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.11 have changed to the following:
  35.  
  36.     Default =  500 milliseconds
  37.     Minimum = 100 milliseconds
  38.     Maximum = 6000 milliseconds

  41. INT_DURING_IO WIN-OS/2 SETTING
  42. ISSUE: When launching a network application in a WIN-OS/2 session, OS/2
  43. appears to launch a DOS box and then return to the WIN-OS/2 session without
  44. launching the application.
  45.  
  46. CAUSE: When Global or Private DOS or WIN-OS/2 sessions are running and a
  47. file open is requested on the network, the request is redirected through NETX.EXE.
  48. When the INT_DURING_IO WIN-OS/2 setting is set to ON, OS/2 sends read and
  49. write requests directly to the OS/2 kernel.
  50.  
  51. The OS/2 kernel is unaware that the file has been opened through the shell. The
  52. WIN-OS/2 session cannot read the file and fails to load the application.
  53.  
  54. SOLUTION  Do any or all of the following:
  55. 1.  Set the INT_DURING_IO WIN-OS/2 setting to OFF.
  56. 2.  Do not load NETX.EXE in the AUTOEXEC.BAT for that session.
  57. 3.  Run the application locally.

  60. VIDEO_SWITCH_NOTIFICATION WIN-OS/2 SETTING
  61. ISSUE: If a WIN-OS/2 IPX/SPX application is launched in full screen mode and
  62. the VIDEO_SWITCH_NOTIFICATION WIN-OS/2 setting is set to OFF, the
  63. application loses the SPX connection.
  64.  
  65. CAUSE: The context switch does not appear to give any proccess time when
  66. the VIDEO_SWITCH_NOTIFICATION DOS setting is set to OFF and the
  67. full screen WIN-OS/2 application is in background. Because of this, no SPX
  68. Watchdog packets are responded to and the connection is lost.

  70. SOLUTION: Set the VIDEO_SWITCH_NOTIFICATION DOS or WIN-OS/2
  71. setting to ON.
