INTRODUCTION
Welcome to NetWare Server for UnixWare installation. The
following screens provide a short tutorial on the operation of
this installation program.
NETWARE SERVER INSTALLATION
NetWare Server installation operates in two parts: installation of
the NetWare Server software and installation of NetWare Directory
Services. You are now in the installation of the NetWare Server.
This part of the installation performs the following steps:
* Offers a simple or custom installation approach
* Copies the software to your system
page 1 of 7
In simple installation, all configuration options are automatically
selected for you.
The custom installation approach allows you to specify the identity
of the NetWare Server on the network, specify NetWare SYS volume
parameters, add NetWare user licenses, and specify the storage
locations of the NetWare Server software on the UnixWare file system.
After the software has been copied, the following configuration is
automatically performed:
* The NetWare kernel drivers are linked into the UnixWare kernel
* NetWare is configured to support the specified number of licensed
users

After this installation completes, you will need to log in to UnixWare
as the system owner and install NetWare Directory Services.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE FOR CUSTOM INSTALLATION
The custom installation process takes you through several screens and
asks various configuration questions:
Which software components should be installed? Choose from:
* NetWare Server for UnixWare
* NetWare Client Kit

If you select NetWare Server for UnixWare, you need to know the
following:
* The name for this NetWare server
* The IPX internal network number
* Should NetWare be started automatically when UnixWare is booted
* The size and layout of the UnixWare file system, in order to
specify the location of the SYS volume and the location of the
SYS volume control directory
* The types of clients (DOS, Windows, or OS/2) accessing this
NetWare server
If you select the NetWare Client kit, you need to know the following:
* The types of clients (DOS, Windows, or OS/2) accessing this NetWare
server
* The size and layout of the UnixWare file system, in order to
specify the location of the client kit diskette images

the command 'scoadmin directory services install'. Directory Services
installation asks you to specify the following:
* Directory Services tree name
* Time synchronization type
* The server context (the location of this server within the tree)
* A NetWare ADMIN user password
Please refer to the NetWare Server for UnixWare Installation
handbook for detailed instructions on configuring Directory

INSTALLATION INPUT METHODS
NetWare Server installation is screen oriented with two input
methods:
1- A list of choices. Use the arrow keys to position the cursor
on the desired choice and press ENTER.
2- A text box. Use the arrow keys to position the cursor on the
desired text box and then type in the desired value. On some
text boxes, there are a limited number supported values. Use

At the bottom of each screen is a hint bar. Read the hint bar for
help on which keys to press to navigate the screen, or to continue
to the next screen.
Help is always available at any time by pressing F1.
QUITTING THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM
To properly install and configure the NetWare Server, you must
complete both the installation of the NetWare Server software and
the installation of Directory Services.
Although it is not recommended, you can quit the installation by
selecting 'Exit without installing'. Selecting this menu item will
in no way modify your UnixWare system.
