  11. ABOUT THIS MENU
  12. The Hardware Device Configuration screen lists each controller
  13. (hardware device) configured on the system.  From this screen
  14. you can:
  15.    --- View all the hardware devices that are configured on
  16.        the system and the current device driver parameter
  17.        settings
  18.    --- Obtain extended information listing the valid values
  19.        for each device driver parameter
  20.    --- Change device driver parameters for a hardware device

  22. HARDWARE DEVICE INFORMATION
  23. A separate row is provided for each hardware device.  The
  24. second field lists the hardware device name.
  25.  
  26. If 'unused' is displayed in the Device Name field then the
  27. hardware device is temporarily inactive; that is, you can
  28. later assign (activate) a hardware device with the listed
  29. device driver settings.  (The configuration data remains
  30. in the system resource data file.)
  31.  
  32. NOTE:  If a hardware device that UnixWare can automatically
  33.        detect (for example, supported EISA, MCA, and PCI
  34.        devices) is removed from the system, its device
  35.        driver parameter entries are removed from the system
  36.        resource data file.

  39. To the left of the hardware device name the value Y or N may
  40. be displayed.  Y indicates that the hardware device is in
  41. use on the system; N indicates that the hardware device is
  42. inactive and its data will be removed from the system resource
  43. data file when you apply the DCU changes.

  45. To the right of the device name are the following values for
  46. the hardware configuration parameters:
  47.   - IRQ
  48.   - Start address for the I/O address range
  49.   - End address for the I/O address range
  50.   - Start address for the memory address range
  51.   - End address for the memory address range
  52.   - DMA channel

  54. HOW TO CHANGE VALUES
  55. The hardware values that can be changed are highlighted.  Do
  56. the following to change these values:
  57.     1.  Use the <Tab> or up/down arrow keys to move to the
  58.         desired field.
  59.     2.  Press the <F2> key to view the choices.
  60.     3.  Use the <Tab> or up/down arrow keys to move the
  61.         asterisk (*) to your choice.
  62.     4.  After entering your selection, press <Enter> to
  63.         return to the Hardware Device Configuration screen.
  64.     5.  If you changed a value, press <F4> to verify the new
  65.         device driver parameter settings.
  66. NOTE:  Some hardware values cannot be changed because these
  67.        settings are required or because hardware-specific
  68.        configuration utilities/procedures must be run.  For
  69.        details check the hardware documentation.

  71. ADDITIONAL HARDWARE DEVICE INFORMATION
  72. The following additional information is available by pressing <F6>:
  73.    --- The hardware driver name
  74.    --- The hardware device name
  75.    --- Valid values for the Unit Number
  76.    --- Valid values for the IPL
  77.    --- Valid values for the ITYPE
  78.    --- Valid values for the IRQ
  79.    --- Valid values for the I/O address range
  80.    --- Valid values for the memory address range
  81.    --- Valid values for the DMA channel
  82.    --- Valid values for the Bind CPU
  83.    --- The board ID
  84.    --- The board bus type
  85. After reviewing the additional hardware device information, press
  86. <Enter> to return to the Hardware Device Configuration screen.

  88. ADVANCED PARAMETER EDITING
  89. Press <F7> to edit other parameters (BINDCPU. Unit Number, IPL,
  90. ITYPE), as well as board-specific parameters (if any).

  92. CONFLICTS
  93. Some hardware devices support shared IRQ values.  Except for
  94. these hardware devices, it is critical that you select unique
  95. hardware values for all other hardware components.
  96.  
  97. If the Hardware Device Configuration screen indicates that two
  98. devices have the same IRQ, overlapping I/O address ranges or
  99. memory address ranges, and/or the same DMA channel, update the
  100. configuration data and resolve the conflict.

  103. Press <Esc> to return to the Hardware Device Configuration
  104. screen.  Press <F1> for more help.
