The SOL312 package is shareware. It contains the powerful, versatile
and very portable program AstroEquationSolver 3 (ASOL3.EXE), its online
helpfile ASOL3HLP.HLP and a printable copy of this help file
ASOL3HLP.DOC. This program is one of the four Astro 3 math
spreadsheet/calculator shareware programs:
AstroFormulaCalculator 3 with online interactive manuals (See Below).
AstroEquationSolver 3 - Solves linear/nonlinear simultaneous equations.
AstroDataFitter 3 - Fits equations to data. Nonlinear regression.
AstroShadowBox 3 - TSR, pop up version with interactive screen capture

AstroFormulaCalculator 3 is available as part of any of 4 interactive
online manuals which are all shareware products:
The Astro 3 Finance Manual FIN312.ZIP (or equivalent FINCAL.ZIP,
FINCAL.SDN, FINGEN.ZIP...)
The Astro 3 Physics Manual PHY312.ZIP (or equivalent PHYCAL.ZIP,
PHYCAL.SDN, PHYGEN.ZIP...)
The Astro 3 Optics Manual OPT312.ZIP (or equivalent OPTCAL.ZIP,
OPTCAL.SDN, OPTGEN.ZIP...)
The Astro 3 Science Manual SCI312.ZIP (or equivalent SCIFIN.ZIP,
SCIFIN.SDN, SCIGEN.ZIP...)
These files are available from the IBM software libraries and/or <ASP>
libraries found on CompuServe, GENIE and other services/BBS.

Shareware Policy

This file contains information for anyone who uses SOL312.ZIP. PCSCC,
Inc. will follow the published guidelines of the Association of
Shareware Professionals and will attempt to maintain its policies and
documentation consistent with their guidelines. Published guidelines
of the Association of Shareware Professionals will take precedent over
any current policies or documentation.
Shareware is "Try-Before-You-Buy" software, it is not free. We urge
all parties who distribute Shareware to help educate the public about
the true nature of Shareware distribution. Information on registering
can be found in the file REGISTER.DOC which is part of this package
(SOL312.ZIP)

Product Description.

equations.
Solves simultaneous equations with up to 30 unknowns.
Characterized by extremely easy setup. Uses active/inactive
method of AstroFormulaCalculator 3 to select variables.
Strictly high level. No reference to matrices at all!.
Includes program ASOL3.EXE and extensive on-line help file
ASOL3HLP.HLP that includes many learn-and-use examples.

Support and Arbitration Policies

The author will remedy the deficiencies of the program in accordance
with the published guidelines of the Association of Shareware
Professionals <ASP>. The Support and Arbitration Policies can be found
in the on-line help file ASOL3HLP.HLP which is accessed from the
program ASOL3.EXE by the (F1) key.

Manually Installing Instructions
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
The file ASOL3HLP.DOC is a page-image version of the online help file
ASOL3HLP.HLP. It is recommended that the user print this file by
copying it to a standard printer:
COPY ASOL3HLP.DOC LPT1: (enter)
The following are minimal instructions for manually installing
AstroEquationSolver 3.
■ Minimum distribution files: README.1ST, ASOL3.ICO, ASOL3.EXE,
ASOL3HLP.HLP, ASOL3HLP.DOC. These files may be
distributed in compressed formats such as SOL312.ZIP.
■ Create a DOS directory named ASTRO3 and change to it:
cd\ (enter) md\astro3 (enter) cd \astro3 (enter)
■ Copy distribution file(s) into this directory.
■ If necessary, decompress SOL312.ZIP as follows:
pkunzip SOL312 (enter)
■ Add these statements to AUTOEXEC.BAT in the base directory:
∙ SET ASTRO3=C:\ASTRO3
∙ append to existing PATH statement ;C:\ASTRO3;
· reboot the computer (ctrl alt del).
■ Running Under Windows as a Non-Windows Application
Follow the installation instructions and install on the hard drive C.
Start WINDOWS (tm, MicroSoft). Click on FILE then click on PROPERTIES.
Enter the following information for each of the fields. Description:
AstroFormCalc 3, Command: ASOL3.EXE, Working Directory: \ASTRO3.
Click on CHANGE ICON. Enter Filename: C:\ASTRO3\ASOL3.ICO. Click on
OK to exit and click on OK to exit FILE. The Astro 3 icon should
appear in the accessory window. Click on it to run ASOL3. At "Get
file" prompt type YES (enter) and at filename prompt type (end esc)
ASOL3HLP.HLP(enter).

Running AstroEquationSolver 3
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
■ To begin with the AstroEquationSolver 3 online helpfile, type:
cd\astro3 (enter) demo (enter) or sol3 (enter)
■ To start from DOS with any Application Manual (ends in .HLP) like
SCI312.HLP, enter DOS commands:
cd\astro3 (enter) ASOL3 SCI312.HLP (enter)
■ To start from DOS with the ASOL3 on-line helpfile, enter DOS
commands:
cd\astro3 (enter) ASOL3 ? (enter)
■ To start from DOS with a listing of *.equ files in directory \ASTRO3,
enter DOS commands:
cd\astro3 (enter) ASOL3 \astro3 (enter)
■ To start from DOS with a formula like y=m*x+b, enter DOS commands:
cd\astro3 (enter) ASOL3 y=m*x+b (enter)
■ To start from DOS with a one-shot calculation, enter DOS commands:
cd\astro3 (enter) ASOL3 55.72+16.34+21.32-48.45 (enter)
