1 SETUP ISSUES
==============
1.1 System Requirements
------------------------
To run Corel InfoCentral 7, you need the following:
- Personal computer with 386DX processor (486 recommended)
- Microsoft(R) Windows 95*
- 8 MB RAM (16 MB recommended)
- Hard disk space**: 13 MB
- VGA Graphics Adapter and monitor
- Mouse
* Corel InfoCentral 7 runs only on Windows 95. It does not run
on Windows NT(TM).
** The disk space requirement listed here is for Corel InfoCentral
only, and varies according to the sector size of your hard
disk. The Setup program indicates the correct figure for your
destination disk.
1.2 Removing Older Versions
----------------------------
It is not necessary to remove older versions of Corel InfoCentral
before installing version 7.
The Corel InfoCentral 7 Setup program does not overwrite or
remove pre-Windows 95 versions of this application. However, if
you want to remove an earlier version to preserve disk space,
1 Run the Setup program you used to install the older
application.
2 Click Uninstall, then follow the on-screen prompts.
If the original Setup or Install program does not include an
Uninstall option, delete the program files manually or use one of
the uninstaller programs available from your software retailer.
1.3 Quarterdeck CleanSweep
---------------------------
You may have a problem installing Corel InfoCentral 7 if you are
using Quarterdeck's CleanSweep(TM) program to monitor your
system. If you do have a problem, run the Corel InfoCentral 7
Setup program again without monitoring the installation process.
1.4 Resuming a Failed Installation
------------------------------------
If you receive an error message during the installation process
telling you that a particular file being installed is not a valid
Windows 95 file or asking you to insert a disk you have already
inserted, you can cancel the installation process, run the Corel
InfoCentral 7 Setup program again, then resume the installation
when prompted. If you have done this several times with no
results, you may need to disable your system's disk caching
before running the Setup program again.
1.5 Problems with comctl32.dll
--------------------------------
If you have installed or will install Microsoft Internet Browser
3.0 Beta or Microsoft NetMeeting 1.0 Beta, you will get a new
comctl32.dll file in your Win95\System folder. This new file may
cause problems with Corel InfoCentral. Please make a backup
copy of comctl32.dll (dated 7/11/95) before installing Microsoft
Internet Browser 3.0 Beta or Microsoft NetMeeting 1.0 Beta, and
replace the new version of comctl32.dll with the backup version.
2 GENERAL ISSUES
================
2.1 Corel InfoCentral 7 Documentation
--------------------------------------
The complete Corel InfoCentral User's Guide is available as an
Envoy(TM) runtime document. If you are installing Corel
InfoCentral from the Corel Care CD, the User's Guide is located
in the \Office7\Support\Updates\IC7 folder on the CD. If you
downloaded Corel InfoCentral from Corel's award-winning web site
(www.corel.com), the User's Guide is available on the web site,
too. You can download the manual and the Envoy viewer free of
charge. You can also purchase a printed instructional manual for
a nominal fee. To order a printed Corel InfoCentral User's
Guide, call the number listed for your area:

2.2 Sorting Objects in Corel InfoCentral
------------------------------------------
In order for the Object Sort feature to work properly, click
Edit>iBase Preferences>Object Sort, then type each word
(like a, an, the) on a separate line, with no commas or extra
spaces. Corel InfoCentral ignores the word(s) you type when
you sort your objects alphabetically.
2.3 Error Installing Printer
------------------------------
You may not be able to install some printers from within this
application. Many printers share printer drivers, and if a
shared printer driver is already open, other printers that use
the driver cannot be added. The most common shared printer
driver is Unidrv.dll.
When you open this application, you also automatically open the
driver associated with the currently selected printer. If the
driver happens to be shared, you will get an error message if you
try to add another printer that also needs the driver. The
Windows 95 Add Printer Wizard will require that you exit from
this application, and possibly from other applications, before
you will be able to add the printer.
2.4 Saving or Retrieving Files with Duplicate Workgroups
----------------------------------------------------------
Because it is possible to have two workgroups with identical
names in Windows 95, you may have a problem retrieving or saving
files from within workgroups that have duplicate names. Mapping
a drive directly to the location of the workgroup you are working
with will allow you to open and save your files without any
problems.
