  1. About Task Pro Version 2.00
  2. ---------------------------

  4. Task Pro 2.0 is a full-featured, highly configurable utility that 
  5. allows you to manipulate and obtain information on windows, 
  6. modules, and tasks. The new interface, which incorporates Windows 95 
  7. styling, also provides system information, several unique application-
  8. launching facilities including the scrollable Quick Launch Button Bar, 
  9. and the Quick Launch Key Search, plus many more features. Task Pro is 
  10. much more than a simple Task Manager replacement, but that is also one
  11. of it's options. Using the new Configuration Wizard makes configuring 
  12. Task Pro for Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and Windows NT a snap.

  14. The ability to manipulate your Windows environment allows for a more
  15. powerful workplace. Task Pro provides you with the tools to manipulate 
  16. windows, modules, and tasks. Some of operations you can perform on
  17. windows inlude showing hidden windows, hiding visible windows, minimizing
  18. and restoring windows, obtaining information on a window's class, position, 
  19. etc., and much more, all from the Task Pro interface. You can obtain 
  20. extensive information on modules, including usage, dependencies, and 
  21. version information, as well being able to unload, or decrement their 
  22. usage count. The ability to terminate a rogue task is a necessity for 
  23. the power user. Task Pro provides this capability, as well as the ability 
  24. to display detailed information on the task.

  26. Task Pro also provides several unique application-launching facilities. 
  27. The Quick Launch Button bar is a scrollable, configurable button bar that
  28. allows you to launch documents, applications, and anything else with a 
  29. single click of a button. The Quick Launch Key Search allows you to 
  30. configure applications and documents with a "Launch Key". Once 
  31. configured, the Key Search searches your key list as you type and 
  32. launches the associated item as soon as a unique key has been found. Also,
  33. the Run dialog provides a quick way to launch any application or document.

  35. You will find many more time-savers and power features throughout the 
  36. elegant Task Pro interface. It has been designed with the user in mind and
  37. through extensive user feedback and testing.

  41. Installation
  42. ------------

  44. To install Task Pro, run the SETUP.EXE program and respond to the 
  45. requests for information including the installation directory, and the
  46. group in which to install icons. To complete installation the setup program
  47. will run Task Pro for you and start the Configuration Wizard.

  49. What's New in 2.0?

  52. Version 2.0 is a huge upgrade to Task Pro. There have been so many 
  53. enhancements, bug fixes, both internally motivated, and in response 
  54. to user suggestion, that it would be virtually impossible to list them 
  55. all here.   
  56.   
  57. The development team wants to thank all of the users who provided their 
  58. valuable comments and suggestions.  As you will all see when you review 
  59. the product, your suggestions and recommendations have really paid off.  
  60. Task Pro v2.0 is an extremely strong product that incorporates many user 
  61. suggestions.

  63. The following list provides a brief overview of the major changes and 
  64. enhancements to the program.  There are many changes that cannot be 
  65. listed here, but you will no doubt encounter them while using the program.

  70.   It allows easy configuration whether you are running Windows 3.x, Windows 
  71.   for Workgroups, Windows 95, or Windows NT. We had a lot of requests for

  76. * Many new options available in Settings dialog for extensive customization

  78.   Display hidden windows, save the last window position or always come up 
  79.   centered, set the initial view, set the initial dialog mode, enable 
  80.   Windows Exit warnings, and much more.

  84.   When in module view, the listbox displays a list of the currently loaded 
  85.   modules on your system.

  87. * Multi-Column listboxes with sizeable, sortable columns.

  89.   You can size a column by dragging the column marker.  You can sort a column 
  90.   in by clicking on the column header.  Toggle ascending or descending sort 
  91.   by double-clicking on the column header.

  93. * Function bar was expanded to include both Context and Function buttons

  95.   Context buttons perform an action based upon the selected window or module. 
  96.   Function buttons are not dependent on any selecton
