  6. INTRODUCTION
  7. ------------
  8. TUNE!IT is a program designed to tune musical instruments on
  9. a PC using a microphone or by directly connecting the
  10. instrument to the PC's soundcard.
  11. TUNE!IT automatically detects the pitch of the input signal
  12. and displays the corresponding note and its deviation  from
  13. standard tuning. Optionally it can display the spectrum of
  14. the input signal, from  which the instrument's harmonics can
  15. be identified.

  18. HARDWARE / SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

  20.  - IBM PC compatible 386 upwards
  21.  - soundcard which is supported by Windows 3.1
  22.    (e.g SOUNDBLASTER)
  23.  - Microsoft Windows (version 3.1 or later)

  28. The TUNE!IT package consists of the following files :

  30.  - TUNEIT.EXE , the executable program file
  31.  - TUNEIT.HLP , the help file

  34. INSTALLATION GUIDELINES

  37. 1) COPY PROGRAM FILES
  38. Copy the program file TUNEIT.EXE and help file
  39. TUNEIT.HLP to an appropriate subdirectory on your hard disk
  40. (e.g. c:\TUNEIT) .

  42. 2) ASSIGN AN ICON
  43. You may use either use the Windows 'Setup' utility or assign
  44. TUNE!IT's program item to a program group via  the Program
  45. Manager's  "File/New" command.

  47. 3) RUN THE PROGRAM
  48. If installed correctly, the program should load from the
  49. Program Manager screen when the TUNE!IT icon is double-
  50. clicked.

  55. USING TUNE!IT
  56. -------------

  58. Make sure your microphone or instrument lead is properly
  59. connected to the soundcard. Click the ON button to activate
  60. the tuner. The red indicator light will be on and your input
  61. signal will be constantly processed and the results
  62. displayed on the screen depending on the mode selected.
  63. Click the OFF button to deactivate the tuner once you have
  64. finished or to change settings or select another mode.
