  5. This file begins with the most recent changes to HyperView and works
  6. back.  New features are summarized here and documented in the User
  7. Reference Manual (HV.DOC).

  9. 2.2
  10. Added support for Clearlook - The Cellular Word Processor.
  11. Add the '=' key (in addition to '+') for follow-up searches in the
  12.   forward direction.
  13. Fixed the display of zeros in hex view.
  14. Fixed bug reading the contents of certain large ZIP archives.
  15. A fast saved WinWord 6 document is now treated as an unrecognized word
  16.   processing format.

  18. 2.1:
  19. Added hex viewer.  Press 'H' to switch to hex view; press 'H', Esc, or
  20.   Enter to return to text view.  While in hex view you may initiate
  21.   searches and jump to any file offset.
  22. To load a file raw (i.e. to defeat auto-recognition of word processing
  23.   and zip files), press F12 from the file or zip directory view, or
  24.   use the '/R' startup option.  The '/R' startup option now applies
  25.   only to the first file.  Use F12 to load subsequent files raw.
  26. Directory listings (both file and zip listings) may be sorted.  Press
  27.   F6 from the directory view.
  28. Added ability to read from standard input, e.g. DIR | HV.
  29. Added word wrap toggle.  The state of word wrap is maintained
  30.   separately for ASCII and word processing files.  Thus you may have
  31.   word wrap enabled for one and disabled for the other.
  32. To accommodate wide screen displays, HyperView now defaults to a right
  33.   margin equal to the screen width for ASCII files, and screen width
  34.   minus 5 for word processing files.  Separate right margin settings
  35.   are maintained for ASCII and word processing files.

  37. 2.0:
  38. Added support for viewing ZIP files.  HyperView works in tandem with
  39.   Info-ZIP's UNZIP.EXE to view compressed files directly, without
  40.   making a copy on your hard drive.  Compressed files with long file
  41.   names and names with spaces may be viewed even on non-HPFS drives.
  42.   Encrypted archives are also supported (you supply the password).
  43. Changed operation of the Escape key.  Instead of Escape, F3 is used to
  44.   exit the program with confirmation.  Escape now backs up from full
  45.   screen view to directory.
  46. Added support for viewing special characters in DeScribe files.
  47. HyperView can now be registered by credit card through BMT Micro.  See
  48.   BMT.FRM for details.

  50. 1.04a:
  51. Fixes a subtle bug that occurred when performing (a) a search and tag
  52.   operation, (b) for a phrase, (c) in the forward direction, and
  53.   (d) an occurrence of the phrase in the text spanned more than one
  54.   line.

  57. Searches are even faster than before.  The increased speed will be
  58.   most noticeable on larger files and slower machines.
  59. Gather operations (similar to blocking text in a word processor) may
  60.   be initiated by holding down the shift key and pressing one of the
  61.   cursor keys (Up, Down, PgUp, PgDn, Home or End).
  62. Gathered text and tagged lines may be copied (overwriting the previous
  63.   contents) or appended (added to the end of the previous contents) to
  64.   the OS/2 clipboard or to a file.  Follow the on-screen instructions.
  65. Pressing the backslash key (\) takes you directly to the directory of
  66.   the current file, positioning the cursor bar on the current file.
  67. Added scroll bar to full screen view.  When the right margin setting
  68.   is less then the number of columns in the current video mode, a
  69.   conventional scroll bar is used.  When the right margin setting is
  70.   greater than or equal to the number of columns in the current video
  71.   mode, HyperView uses a virtual scroll bar.
  72. Ctrl-Right and Ctrl-Left scroll the screen right or left 5 columns.
  73. When the screen has been scrolled right, the home key returns the
  74.   screen to the far left.
  75. Exit HyperView from directory listing by pressing Alt-F4 or Alt-X.
  76. Warning added when attempting a clipboard operation that exceeds 64K
  77.   of text. (This is not a limitation of HyperView.  The OS/2 text
  78.   clipboard is limited to 64K of text.)
  79. Fixed disappearing cursor when HyperView is called from shell program.

  81. 1.03:
  82. Added interface with OS/2 clipboard.  Gathered text and tagged lines
  83.   may now be copied to the clipboard.  To enable the clipboard
  84.   feature, the file HVAUX.EXE must be installed in the same directory
  85.   as HV.EXE.
  86. Available commands no longer depend on the active view.  For example,
  87.   searches may now be initiated while in condensed or split screen
  88.   view.
  89. Easier to navigate directories.  Backspace moves to parent directory.
  90.   In addition, after changing to the parent directory, the cursor will
  91.   point to the former parent rather than moving to the top.
  92. Revised default color scheme. (Configurable colors are coming in a
  93.   forthcoming release.)
  94. Revised help screen in anticipation of adding pull-down menus to a
  95.   forthcoming release.
  96. Accelerated process of listing tagged lines to file.
  97. HyperView can now be run when OS/2 is booted from a floppy disk.
  98. Added table recognition to Ami Pro conversion.
  99. Nomenclature change: what used to be referred to as "marked lines" are
  100.   now called "tagged lines".  Same principle, new name.
  101. Fixed bug when display is set for 132 columns

  103. 1.02:
  104. Added file size, date and time to directory listing.
  105. Added capability to view a file in a new HyperView session.  Highlight
  106.   the file you wish to view in the directory listing, then press
  107.   Ctrl-Enter (or F9) to start (spawn) a new session.
  108. Added name of file being viewed to window task list.
  109. Added new command line option to set the number of lines of text on
  110.   screen.  The option takes the form "/Lnn", where nn is a number
  111.   between 25 and 60.
  112. Added new command line option to specify directory and/or file mask
  113.   for opening directory listing.  Instead of typing a file name on the
  114.   command line, type a path.
  115. Isolated carriage return character (ASCII 13) now treated as valid end
  116.   of line character.
  117. Revised prompt strategy for Gather and List dialogs.
  118. Corrected potential bug when reading directory from LAN drive.

  122. Added Files view.  The Files view permits you to pick a file from a
  123.   directory listing.  The directory listing may also be used to
  124.   navigate through the file system.  The Files directory listing is
  125.   automatically invoked if a file is not specified at startup.  See
  126.   README.DOC and HV.DOC for additional details.

  128. Added option to clear screen on exit from HyperView.  Press Alt-X.
