of features includes:
Rendering
* Fast, realistic renderers (scanline and ray-tracing) integrated with AutoCAD
Release 13
* Ray-tracing effects such as shadowing, reflection and refraction
* Rendering to screen or file at any resolution
* Rendering 8-, 16-, 24- or 32-bit photorealistic still images
* Quick preview via subsampling
* Test rendering to a selected rectangular window within the scene
(crop window)
* Scalable antialiasing controls
* Scene control for setting up multiple views with different lighting effects
* Fog and depth cueing for adding visual information about object distance
from the camera
* Rendering information saved in the .DWG file
* Rendered images saved in .TGA, .TIF, .BMP and .GIF formats
* Rendering by entity or entire scene
* Support of .BMP, .GIF, .TIF, .JPG, .PCX and .TGA files as background images
Materials and Materials Editing
* AutoVision Sample CD--a library of prebuilt materials for quickly developing
photorealistic renderings
* Bitmap images and 3D geometries
* Windows and DOS browser utilities
* Interactive editor for modifying and creating materials for customized
materials/textures
* Procedural textures for producing customized, seamless granite, wood and
marble surfaces
* Control of different material properties, including RGB color, ambient color
reflectivity and transparency, for creating surfaces that range from plastic
to chrome
* Texture, bump, opacity and reflection mapping to achieve complex surfaces
with depth and mirrored effects
* Compatibility with nonprocedural 3D Studio materials for easy material
exchange and animating of AutoVision files
* Material assignment by entity, layer or AutoCAD Color Index (ACI)
* Planar, spherical, solid and cylindrical mapping for easy alignment of maps
with AutoCAD entities
Lighting
* Sophisticated lighting options, including ambient light and point, spot and
distant lights
* Sun Locator, with control over latitude, longitude and time of day,
intensity and color, for simulating sun-shadow lighting effects
* Control of light intensity, attenuation, color and shadowing to achieve
desired lighting effects
* Precise control over spotlights, including hot spot, falloff and color
Animation
* Camera-target path animation for creating architectural walk-throughs,
mechanical fly-bys and animated sun/shadow studies
* FLI(TM) and Flic(TM) animation creation
* Freely distributable DOS or Windows Animation Player(TM) for playing
back FLI and Flic animations
Landscape Components
* Landscape elements and other bitmap objects for enhancing scenes
* Camera-aligned, single-face or crossing-face alignment
Compatibility with 3D Studio and Other Autodesk Software
* Reads and writes .3DS files
* Works with 3D Studio materials and material libraries, making it easy to
bring AutoVision files into 3D Studio for animating
* Reads AutoCAD Render information for rendering with AutoVision software's
high-quality renderer
* Works with Autodesk 3D modeling programs, including AutoCAD Designer(R),
Advanced Modeling Extension(R) (AME) and AutoSurf(TM) Release 2 software
