This 30 day trial version is based on Realsoft 3D V4.2 and allows you to evaluate most of the features available in the full Realsoft 3D V4.2. Only space consuming support files, such as example projects, animations and images, have been removed to keep download times at a reasonable level.
You can create and save test projects during a time period of one month, the only limitation being that the file rendering resolution is limited to 600*380 pixels. The trial period expires 30 days after the time of the program installation.
Use of the trial version for commercial graphics production and other financial profit oriented purposes is prohibited. Please read carefully the software license agreement which will be presented to you during the program installation.
If you have already tried one of the earlier Realsoft 3D trial versions (version 4 or 4.1), please read the chapter New Features & Improvements at the end of this readme file.
If you are new to Realsoft 3D, probably the the best place to start is by reading the user manual chapter 'Subdivision Surfaces/A Coffee Cup', which describes how to model a coffee cup.
In the download area of www.realsoft3d.com you can also find demo versions for VRML and IGES file format modules. You might want to download and install them as well.
Note: You can order fully functional release of VRML or IGES plug-ins on line through our web shop at http://www.realsoft3d.com or by sending e-mail to sales@realsoft3d.com.
New Features & Improvements in Trial Version 4.2
Version 4.2 is a 'service pack'. It introduces only few completely new features. However, we have listened feedback from the users and added numerous minor enhancements and performance optimizations. Especially the subdivision surface tool set introduces a large number of improvements, which increase productivity of SDS modeling greatly.
REALViZ
This trial version supports import plug-in for reading MatchMover .rz3 camera tracking files. To load .rz3 files, select File/Open and select the file to be loaded.
Real3D V3
Real 3D V3 material import works now better. Specularity is imported and reflection & transparency are converted more accurately.
Thumbnail Images
File/Save As and File/Load window support new 'Thumbnail' section.
In File/Save As window, you can update the thumbnail image simply by clicking it. This copies the image from the current view window into the thumbnail canvas. You can also associate user name, company name and brief description text with your projects.
File/Load window automatically shows you the thumbnail when a .r3d projects is selected.
Material Library Browser
In the select window / material tab you can find new pop-up menu 'Browse Material Library'. This opens a window which allow you to manage your material libraries through preview image based interface.
This window allows you to:
Load materials in to the current project. This can be done by double clicking the desired material preview image in the material browser window, or by selecting the material and clicking the 'Add' tool button.
Save materials to a file To do this, drag the desired material from the current project and drop it into the preview area of the material browser window. The material gets saved into the selected material folder.
Create, rename and delete folders in your material library.
SDS knife tool
This is a new SDS tool allowing you to draw a freehand curve, which is used as knife to cut selected SDS objects. New vertices are added to edges where the edges hit the surface of the defined curve.
The Available Objects/Creation/Knife tool allows you to use any object as a knife. The surface of the last selected object is used as knife to cut selected SDS objects.
See the user manual for more information about the knife tools.
SDS Edge Loop Selector
This tool selects edges that connect to the selected edges and whose direction does not differ too much from the selected edge's direction. To use this tool, select an edge and click the tool.
Modifiers:
Shift - select edges iteratively.
Ctrl - select opposite edges instead of adjacent edges.
UV Editor
UV Editor introduces several improvements to per face uv handling.
The UV Editor shows the per vertex UV:s honoring the Wrap U and Wrap V flags.
The 'strength' of the backdrop image can now be controlled via UV Property Window. The UV Editor's compass menu contains couple of presents.
Displacer
Displacer object allows you to use any material property to deform geometric objects. All objects at the same hierarchy level will get deformed according to the material mapping object inside the displacer object. You can create displacer objects by selecting 'New/Displacer' via the pop-up menu of the select window.
More than one displacer object can be created per level. For example, you can create multiple displacers to create 'ripples' on a 'waves'. Point displacer attributes can also be animated by editing them in animation recording mode.
Check out the sample projects in 'samples\displacer' folder.
Miscs
Nurbs mesh supports pointwise properties. Select desired points and in the property window, enter desired property. Note: pointwise colors are currently rendered only in ray tracing.
Material/Flush Images tool. This releases all unused images from the image cache.
Rendering settings: Maximum recursion depth level increased from 12 up to 32.
