  93. Introduction
  94. ============
  95. ArithmeTick-Tack-Toe is like a traditional game of X's and O's, however
  96. it requires the players to correctly answer a mathematical problem before
  97. placing their piece.  A player can either challenge a friend or play
  98. against the computer.  The player has full control over the type and
  99. difficulty of the math problems, as well as the skill of the computer
  100. opponent.  Enough flexibility is provided to make the game challenging
  101. for children as well as adults.

  103. ArithmeTick-Tack-Toe was developed to encourage children to interact with
  104. the computer and practice math skills while having fun in a multimedia
  105. environment.  It is sure to appeal to both parents and educators as well
  106. as being entertaining for the students.

  111. This version of the software is an evaluation or "shareware" edition. It
  112. allows you to try out the software and decide if it meets your needs,
  113. before you purchase it.  Once you have decided that ArithmeTick-Tack-Toe
  114. will benefit your child/student, you can order an enhanced version of the
  115. software which offers a larger variety of math problems and skill levels.

  122. ArithmeTick-Tack-Toe requires the following items for proper use:

  186. ===== Installation =====================================
  187.  
  188. The installation procedure for ArithmeTick-Tack-Toe is quite simple.  The
  189. package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the
  190. entire process.  You will need about 1.5MB of available disk space
  191. on the hard drive on which you plan to install the software.
  192.  
  193. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  194.  
  195.    o  Place the distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
  196.       appropriate diskette drive.
  197.  
  198.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program on the distribution diskette
  199.       from within the Windows Program Manager.
  200.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, choose
  201.       the Run command from the Program Manager's File menu.
  202.       Type "a:install" and click on OK.
  203.  
  204.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  205.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  206.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  207.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  208.       the product files to that directory.  If you received the product
  209.       on two diskettes, you will need to insert Disk 2 in the diskette
  210.       drive when asked to do so.  If you so direct it, the installation
  211.       program will install executable programs and documentation in
  212.       other directories of your choice.  It will make no other changes;
  213.       specifically, it will not modify your autoexec.bat or config.sys
  214.       files.

  219. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the documents
  220. which have been installed in your Windows Program Group "Math Games".
  221. To start ArithmeTick-Tack-Toe, simply double click on its icon.

  223. full instructions.
