This installer will help you copy files from your source
directory to a new (or old) directory on your hard disk,
will check your system for viruses, and will optionally
adjust AUTOEXEC.BAT to suit your requirements.
■ This installer is compatible with a Microsoft mouse.
Usage: left button... ENTER right button... ESC
■ Press ESC to abort the installation program at any time.

■ This field indicates the drive and directory from which
AVAST! files will be copied. If you wish to install from
another location (drive or directory), change to that
location, ensure that all necessary files are present,
and run INSTALL again.
■ This field cannot be modified by the user.

■ This field defines where you want to install AVAST!. We
recommend creating a new directory for the product.
■ The Installer will test the drive you select to ensure
that it is accesible.

{Making a rescue diskette
────────────────────────}
A rescue diskette is prepared before disaster strikes, to
enable you to reboot an unbootable hard disk and
automatically recover the boot area.
Here's how to make one:
■ Format a floppy in drive A: with the command {FORMAT A: /S}
■ The installer will copy vital AVAST! programs to this
disk and, using BGUARD, save critical information about
your hard disk. Label this disk, write-protect it, and
put it in a safe place.

{Creating a Copy of the Distribution Disk
────────────────────────────────────────}
Here is how to make more copies of the distribution disk:
■ Prepare two formatted diskettes (min. 1.2 MB).
■ Insert these disks into the drive you select.
■ AVAST! files for {DOS} are placed on the {first} diskette,
AVAST! files for {Windows} are placed on the {second}.
■ Label and write-protect these diskettes.

■ Program will install AVAST! system into Windows environment.
■ If you use any shell other than PROGMAN.EXE, the program icons
will not be changed.

■ Info on all your programs will be stored for later use.
■ The destination directory will be added to the path
with a new line like: {set PATH=C:\AVAST!;%PATH%}
{C:\AVAST!\LGUARD /M} these 3 lines will be added
{C:\AVAST!\RGUARD /3 /B /E} to AUTOEXEC.BAT to provide
{C:\AVAST!\FGUARD /3} automatic protection.
■ Your original AUTOEXEC.BAT will be backed up.

both) will be copied to the selected target directory.
■ Info on all your programs {optionally} saved for later
use in detecting and removing a virus.

■ {You decide} which programs will run at startup, and with
what switches.
■ Your original AUTOEXEC.BAT will be backed up.
