  1. This release contains the 1998.07.07 version of Anvil Studio by Willow Software.
  2. It replaces the old versions named ast9806.zip/exe, mstudioZ.exe.

  4. AST9806.EXE is a self-extracting ZIP file.
  5. AST9806.ZIP is the equivalent ZIP file (run the program SETUP.EXE).
  6.  
  7. Anvil Studio is a "Freeware" program that runs under Windows 95 and Windows NT.
  8. It supports multi-track recording, composing, and editing of music
  9. using AUDIO, MIDI, and sampled percussions.
  10. Audio effects include delay, pitch change, filtering, and reverse.
  11. Anvil Studio is designed to work with optional accessories from
  12. Willow Software such as sheet music printing, piano exercises,
  13. ear training exercises, and voice-pitch analysis.

  15. Requires Internet Explorer 3.0 or later or Windows 98, 16 meg RAM
  16. (32 meg for Audio recording), and a Sound card.
  17. Note that Netscape Navigator or any other browser can remain your
  18. primary browser even if you install Internet Explorer on your computer.
  19. To run under Windows NT 4.0, it requires Microsoft's NT Service Pack 3,
  20. available for download from Microsoft's WEB sites at:

  26. and can only be redistributed without modification.

  48.  o  Better tools on the Compose page.
  49.      o   select, cut, copy, paste notes on the staff
  50.      o   drag notes from the Note palette to the staff
  51.      o   remove individual notes and change note attributes
  52.          by clicking on the notes with the right-mouse button.
  53.          Attributes include "Tie to next note" and "Staccato"
  54.  o  Fixed problem that prevented editing properties of Rhythm tool on perform page.
  55.  o  Fixed problem that caused error message when recording pitch bend events
  56.  o  Added check box to Synths page that controls synthesizer's
  57.     LocalControl setting.

  60. Bugs fixed in the 1998.06.24 version include:
  61.  o  Better memory management for Audio recording.
  62.  o  Rhythm tool on Perform page is more precise.

  64.  o  Fixed bug with Edit/Quantitize menu.
  65.  o  old .WAV files were being left on the disk every time a new
  66.     Audio track got recorded.

  71.  o  Enables optional accessory for printing high-resolution Sheet music.
  72.  o  Supports Stereo Audio (the previous versions were limited to Mono).
  73.  o  Create a single .WAV file by mixing all Audio and Sampled Rhythm
  74.     tracks with the Delay effect applied.
  75.  o  Fixed several bugs, including some Setup bugs.
  76.  o  Now runs on Windows NT 4.0.

  78. Features that were added and bugs fixed in the 1998.04.22 version include:
  79.  o  Added more context-sensitive help.
  80.  o  Fixed bug where Help information sometimes got blanked out
  81.     on machines with Internet Explorer version 4.0.
  82.  o  The Back Page arrow failed to work in some situations.
  83.  o  MIDI recording had some problems with synths that generated
  84.     Clock and Active Sensing MIDI events.
