  3. This page shows the music for the active track, selected in the <b>Record</b> page.

  5. Since the track's <b>Type</b> is set to <b>Audio</b>, it shows the audio track's wave.
  6. <br>
  7. Initially, the entire song's wave is shown.  To see the wave in more detail, zoom in by
  8. scrolling the horizontal and vertical Zoom scroll bars.
  9. <br>
  10. Click <b>Audio Quality</b> to change quality and memory requirements of your recording.

  12. <b>CD - Mono</b> quality consumes 88,200 bytes per second, or 5 million bytes per minute (16 bit @ 44 kHz).
  13. <br><b>Video Game - Mono</b> consumes 44,100 bytes per second, or 2.6 million bytes per minute (8 bit @ 44 kHz).
  14. <br><b>Phonograph - Mono</b> consumes 44,100 bytes per second, or 2.6 million bytes per minute (16 bit @ 22 kHz).
  15. <br><b>FM Radio - Mono</b> consumes 22,050 bytes per second, or 1.3 million bytes per minute (16 bit @ 11 kHz).
  16. <br><b>Radio - Mono</b> consumes 22,050 bytes per second, or 1.3 million bytes per minute (8 bit @ 22 kHz).
  17. <br><b>Phone - Mono</b> consumes 11,025 bytes per second, or 661,500 bytes per minute (8 bit @ 11 kHz).
  18. <br><b>Old Radio - Mono</b> consumes 8,000 bytes per second, or 480,000 bytes per minute (8 bit @ 8 kHz).

  20. To begin recording to this track, press the record button <img align=center src="recbut.gif">,
  21. and then press the stop button <img align=center src="stopbut.gif"> when you are ready to stop recording.

  23. With the left mouse down, drag the mouse over the sound window to select part of it.
  24. <br>
  25. If nothing is selected, any of the following operations affect the entire track.
  26. <br>
  27. To hear only the selected sound, 
  28. press the <b>Play Selection</b> button.
  29. <br>
  30. To copy the contents of an audio (.WAV) file into this track,
  31. select the <b>Import Audio from...</b> from the <b><u>F</u>ile</b> menu.
  32. A private copy of the file is made, so that any changes you make will not
  33. affect the imported file.
  34. <br>
  35. To copy the selected sound to the clipboard, 
  36. select <b>Copy</b> from the <b><u>E</u>dit</b> menu.

  38. To paste the contents of the clipboard into the song, click the mouse where you want to insert the new sound, and
  39. select one of the following from the <b><u>E</u>dit</b> menu:

  42. <b>Paste Over</b> if you want the audio in the clipboard to replace sound on the current track.
  43. For example, if the clipboard contains 1 second of audio, and the song's current position is 0:10:00 (10 seconds), then
  44. the current track from 0:10:00 to 0:11:00 is replaced with the contents of the clipboard.

  46. <b>Paste Mix</b> if you want the clipboard to be mixed with the current track.
  47. <li>
  48. <b>Paste Insert</b> if you want the clipboard inserted into the current song.

  50. To delete the selected part of the wave,
  51. select <b>Delete</b> from the <b><u>E</u>dit</b> menu.

  53. To set the selected part of the wave to complete silence,
  54. select <b>Silent</b> from the <b><u>E</u>dit</b> menu.

  56. To replace the selected sound with the same sound played backward,
  57. select <b>Reverse</b> from the <b><u>E</u>dit</b> menu

  61. To filter the entire track, press the <b>Filter</b> button.  If you only want to filter part of
  62. the track, select the desired time period with the mouse, and then press the Filter button.

  64. You can adjust the volume by pressing the <b>Volume</b> button.
  65. <br>
  66. As a short-cut, you can make the track, or part of it, twice as loud by pressing the <b>Louder</b> button.
  67. <br>
  68. You can adjust the pitch by pressing the <b>Pitch</b> button.

  70. To help you synchronize with recorded MIDI instruments, vertical
  71.    <i>tempo</i>   
  72. lines are drawn at the start of each 16th note.
