Notes:
- This file has to reside in the Program Directory.
- To activate options, write "Y", else write "N". Please note the comments.
- Please regard that no spaces are allowed behind the "=".
- Options marked with "*" can also be configured from inside the program
(Menu "SERVICE/PREFERENCES").
- If the structure of this file is damaged please note:
- The program interpretes those lines of this file in a correct way that
are not damaged.

- Save this file as ASCII-file without any formattings.
==========================================================================
[Special Settings]
SPA00 * Hardware analysis via DMI=N
;A well-implemented DMI interface allows to get a lot of additional
;hardware informations; DMI analysis however can cause illegal
;operations and sometimes not all of the data inside the DMI database
;are correct.
SPA01 * Pass PCI-Test=N
;The PCI Bus Test might cause a system crash. It can be disabled
;therefore.
;(EMM386.EXE with the switch "HIGHSCAN" can cause a crash)
SPA02 * Disable IDE analysis=N
;the analysis of (E)IDE drives cannot be executed under Windows,
;if 32 bit drive access is enabled.
;It's not advisable to disable this mode for normal operation.
;Therefor the analysis of IDE drives will normally not be available.
;and should be disabled.
SPA03 * No Time-Stamp-Counter access=N
;The instruction to read the TSC can be privileged; an execution
;would cause a GPF. If set to N however, CPU clock determination
;will be less precisely.
SPA04 * Test Harddisk always=N
;Sometimes it looks liek there is no hard disk established although
;it∩s present and working. This can be caused by some block device
;drivers. In this case it∩s useful to force the hard disk test.
SPA05 * Not test for Graphics chipset=N
;Testing for the graphics chipset might affect a system crash.
;Under MS WINDOWS and OS/2 also bad results might occur.
SPA06 * Long-time-CD-ROM-Benchmark=N
;To determine the mid access time of the CD ROM drive random accesses
;are made within 6,5 seconds. A prolongation of the test period
;will increase the reasonability of the result. If this option is
;active, the test will last about one minute.
[Sound Card Tests]
;The Sound Card tests can cause system crashes because of their low-level
;way of analysis. Especially the GUS test is somewhat "dangerous".
;Port accesses are made in the I/O-range from 313h to 367h, where
;Net adapter, SCSI Controller or CD ROM drives can reside.
;You can enable/disable each Sound Card test routine.
SPA07 * Disable Soundblaster test=N
;Port accesses to: 210h, 220h, 230h, 240h, 250h, 260h
SPA08 * Disable Gravis Ultra Sound=Y
;Port accesses to: 313h-317h, 323h-327h, 333h-337h, 343h-347h,
;353h-357h, 363h-367h
SPA09 * Disable Pro Audio Spectrum test=N
;Port accesses (if detected via BIOS Call) to: 388h, 384h, 38Ch,
;288h
SPA10 * Disable MIDI Port test=N
;Port accesses to: 330h-331h or the port that was found via
;Blaster environment String.
[SCSI bus analysis]
SPZ10 * Scan for 8,16, 32 devices on scsi bus=0
;On ultra wide scsi adapter up to 32 devices can be attached;
;on elder adapters you should restrict the device scan to a maximum
;of eight, because the devices with ID 0 to 7 might be mirrored to
;higher IDs resulting in the "detection" of phantom devices
;to scan for eight devices, enter 0, to scan for 16 enter 1, otherwise
;enter 2.
[Program behaviour]
SPA15 * Allways display general messages and infos=N
;Suppresses the display of general information messages more than
;one time.
SPA16 * No message windows in reports=N
;Turns the display of message windows off during the creation
;of reports and allow their creation without the need of
;user-interaction. Note, that some dialogs, that require use-input,
;must be turned off separately.
SPA17 * Bold font in dialog boxes=N
;Some people may prefer bold font, but note that it can distort tables.
SPA18 *3-D Chart diagrams=N
;Chart diagrams can be presented in either 2- or 3-D.
SPA19 *Exploded pies=N
;Option for the pie diagrams.
SPA20 * Diagrams with graded background=Y
;Set this option to Y in order to get a more elegant background for the diagrams.
SPA21 * Editor syntax highlighting=Y
;Set this option in order to give optical structure to formal-structured text
;(e.g. configuration files).
[Menu SOFTWARE/Other Files]
;By default the Pull Down Menu "SOFTWARE" offers you the option to view
;the configuration files AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI.
;Via option "OTHER FILES" however up to 12 other files can be loaded into
;the internal file viewer.
;Please define those files here below.
;Note: Dr. Hardware can open files via the PATH environment string.
;So there∩s no need to write down the complete path for those files.
;Otherwise the path size is restricted to 80 characters.
;Please apply a dot behind the name of files that have no extension
;(e.g. "dirinfo" -> write "dirinfo.")
;Example: File 1=C:\NETWORK\NET.CFG
OFS0080 File 1=
OFS0180 File 2=

[Critical steps of analysis]
;Before running certain analysis procedures you will be asked via message
;box whether you want to run an analysis that is known for it∩s somehow
;critical behaviour.
;If your decision is always the same you will get angry about those
;permanent inquiries. You can however suppress them by prefixing your
;answers here below. (Write Y(es) or (N)o instead of "?" which means that
;you will be asked each time)
KRW00 * Test for IBM-CPUs in V86 Mode=?
;Risk of system crash
KRW01 * Test for IIT4C87 in V86 Mode=?
;Risk of system crash
KRW02 * Netbios Analysis=?
;system may crash, influences whole network, long-time-analysis
KRW03 * Test for software compressors (logical drive analysis)=?
;risk of system crash
KRW04 * IRQ assignment - Generate real interrupts=?
;System may crash or get unstable (especially under WINDOWS)
KRW05 * Test for software cache and try to switch off (HD Bench)=?
;a software cache may falsify the result for the data transfer rate.
KRW06 * Flush Cache befor reset=?
;If you are going to quit the program via Reset option it might
;be that your software cache not have written back all data yet.
KRW07 * Benchmark comparision, test your PC=?
;Put the benchmark results of your PC to the comparision list shown
;on the screen? If so, Dr. Hardware will first run the benchmarks
;on your machine
KRW08 * Test floppy drive inspite of BIOS error=?
;Bios function claims that there is no floppy drive - but there is
;for example a setup entry. Continuing testing this floppy? It might
;be a phantom.
KRW09 * Test sound board hardware=?
;If Sound Card is missing or incorrectly installed direct port access
;may cause a illegal operation under WINDOWS.
KRW10 * Show reports=?
;after generating reports you can inspect the results via internal
;viewer
