  14.     To follow on the next  couple of pages of this  Readme file will be an
  15.     overview of  Business Plan Master.   Please take the time to read this
  16.     information,  as it describes the  product and gives you "Quick Start"
  17.     instructions.   It may take a couple  of minutes now, but it will save
  18.     you a lot of time overall.

  20.     Please make sure you use the User's Guide when working with the temp-
  21.     lates.  It is designed to guide you in "plugging in" the info  needed
  22.     to complete the business plan.

  35.            driveway, the perfect spouse,  wonderful children,  world peace
  36.            and intergalactic harmony.  (just kidding!)

  41.        *   Any IBM PC or compatible with a word processing and spreadsheet
  42.            program.   These files  are designed  for use by  those with  a
  43.            basic   (not  advanced)   knowledge  of   word  processing  and
  44.            spreadsheets.

  47.     By distributing  BUSINESS PLAN MASTER as  Shareware we  are expressing
  48.     our confidence  in the public to "Do the Right Thing".   We would like
  49.     you to evaluate  BUSINESS PLAN MASTER  for as  long as 10 days  before
  50.     deciding whether  you want to keep it.  If you do decide to   keep it,
  51.     you  MUST register (pay for) your copy.  Full  details on registration
  52.     can be found in the REGISTER.TXT file. If you use BUSINESS PLAN MASTER

  69.     plan  spreadsheet (Proforma),  and  the  main  business  plan  document
  70.     (BIZPLN31).  These  two  files that  are  included  allow you  to fully

  72.     receive  when you  order  are used in the  same way,  and (as indicated
  73.     above), when put together they comprise the complete business plan.

  121.      The  text files are in WordPerfect (*.WP),  Microsoft Works 3.0  (.TXT
  122.      files, which Works will import) and Word  (*.DOC) formats. The spread-
  123.      sheet files are in Lotus (*.WK1),  Excel  (*.XLS) and Microsoft  Works
  124.      (*.WKS).  Also,  many other competitive  programs such as WordStar, or
  125.      Quattro Pro should be able to import these files.

  127.      Laser printers are best,  but are  not a  requirement  UNLESS  you are
  128.      planning  to  present  this  plan  to  venture  capitalists  or  other
  129.      sophisticated investors.

  132.      Ziffnet,  America OnLine,  BMUG,  BCS-Mac,  and is also available from
  133.      the Internet, several shareware vendors and direct from us.

  144.      and dialogue that Mr. Works put into the documentation  (including the
  145.      text to  follow in this  file),  as it  lends  a better  feel  to  the

  147.      continue  to give  him credit  for  the  original development  of  the
  148.      product, as he put a tremendous amount of effort into it.

  153.      Every business needs to have a  plan in  order to  track its progress.
  154.      There is no  business too small,  too large, too complex or too simple
  155.      to  avoid  having a  business plan.   I  found that  many  businessmen
  156.      assume that  the  usefulness of  their business  plan is over once the
  157.      business is up and running.   I  have been  successful  using business
  158.      plans not  only to start businesses, but as important management tools
  159.      in an going business.

  161.      This program is designed for use by any  size (small, medium or large)
  162.      or type (product or service)  of business.   It also  includes all the
  163.      necessary information which most lenders or investors are seeking.

  165.      I didn't  write this program in an ivory tower some place,  but out of
  166.      my  own  business  experiences.   For seven years,  I imported  cuckoo
  167.      clocks from  the Black  Forest of Germany,  so  this  is  definitely a
  168.      "cuckoo"  program!   I  have been  involved  in  many  other  business
  169.      ventures.  I'd be lying  if I said I made money with all of them.  But
  170.      I can  truthfully say that all were successful, mainly because I wrote
  171.      a plan and stuck to that plan.

  173.      Business Plan Master  supplies  you  with complete  template files.  I
  174.      give you professional formats  (footnootes,  tables of  contents, some
  175.      simple graphics),  some excellent sample text and several  spreadsheet
  176.      files for you to use.   Alone these  could save you many  hundreds  of
  177.      hours of  work.   Because  of  the wide  diversity  of businesses  and
  178.      business  ideas,  I have  tried  to make  these  files as universal as
  179.      possible.  Over time, you will  incorporate your own language into the
  180.      text and make modifications to the worksheets.
