  5. Here is a list of the new features of WinBiff 3.9a:

  7.   o InstallShield installation added, which allows convenient
  8.     uninstall
  9.  
  10.   o Stay on top option added
  11.  
  12.   o Window caption indicates polling
  13.  
  14.   o Icon optionally blinks during polling.  In Windows 3.1
  15.     and Windows NT 3.51, it is actually the icon caption that
  16.     blinks.

  18.   o Support for custom POP3 and IMAP4 ports added
  19.  
  20.   o For Notes, if bad records are encountered, WinBiff
  21.     now continues to poll, instead of aborting.

  28.   o You can now specify a start directory for the mail
  29.     reader.

  31.   o Notes 3.x mailboxes are again supported, using the
  32.     Received by Category view by default.  Other views
  33.     can be specified.

  35.   o In the 32-bit version, mouse-clicking on the colored
  36.     icon and text areas in the Color tab now properly
  37.     adjusts the color scrollbars.

  39.   o The appearance of the mail reader and network pages in
  40.     the setup has been cleaned up in the 16-bit version.

  42. Version 3.8a:

  44.   o A new option, Detect running reader, detects the mail
  45.     reader even if you haven't launched it from WinBiff.
  46.     This option is especially useful in conjunction with
  47.     the Suspend polling option.  It also prevents accidentally
  48.     launching a second instance of your reader by clicking
  49.     on WinBiff.

  51. Version 3.8:
  52.  
  53.   o The Notes support has been completely rewritten to use
  54.     the C API, instead of VIM.  Setup for Notes should be
  55.     much easier, and mail polling more reliable.  Error messages
  56.     that occur during polling can be suppressed.

  58.   o For Message Sources that require passwords, the password
  59.     can be prompted for, rather than storing it in the
  60.     .INI file.  This option gives enhanced security protection.
  61.  
  62.   o For POP3 and IMAP4, a COM port can be checked before each
  63.     poll.  Using this option, if you terminate or lose your
  64.     modem connection, WinBiff will not display unwanted error
  65.     messages.

  67.   o For cc:Mail, when VIM errors occur, additional diagnostic
  68.     information now appears in the popup error boxes.

  70.   o In the 32-bit version, there are now separate default
  71.     16x16 icons for display in the system tray.  If you use
  72.     custom 32x32 icons, those will still be displayed in
  73.     compressed form in the system tray.

  75.   o WinBiff now includes a utility, KILLWBF.EXE (16-bit) or
  76.     KILLWB32 (32-bit), which safely shuts down all running
  77.     instances of the program.  This utility is useful for
  78.     logout scripts.  WinBiff now will shut down on receipt of
  79.     WM_CLOSE messages, so it should behave properly when
  80.     using other shutdown utilities.

  82.   o PageUp and PageDown in the header window now scroll a full
  83.     page, instead of a single line.

  85.   o The bug that complained of a missing profile for Windows
  86.     Messaging on initial setup has been fixed.

  88.   o The titlebar-only window problem that occasionally occurred
  89.     in the 32-bit version has been fixed.

  91.   o A bug in the IMAP4 protocol implementation that generated
  92.     occasional erroneous error messages has been fixed.  Another
  93.     IMAP4 bug that sometimes resulted in spurious FETCH messages to
  94.     be sent has been fixed.

  96. Version 3.7:

  98.   o The Setup has been completely rewritten, using a page metaphor.
  99.     Users should find the new setup easier to understand.  Also,
  100.     this arrangement will make it easier to add new features in the
  101.     future.

  103.   o Code for the new Setup has been placed in a dynamic library,
  104.     WBFSETUP.DLL in the 16-bit version, and WBFSTP32.DLL in the
  105.     32-bit version.  The library is loaded only when in use.
  106.     Moving the code out of the .EXE's means they are about 20%
  107.     smaller than before -- the 16-bit version now is only 74K,
  108.     and the 32-bit version is only 106K.  System administrators
  109.     can remove the .DLL's to prevent users from modifying settings.

  111.   o In the WAVBase, strings can be used to match either the From
  112.     line, the Subject line, or both.  Matching now occurs on the
  113.     string that is displayed, rather than the raw header, to make
  114.     it clear what is being matched.

  116.   o An option, "Play WAVs just once", has been added.
  117.  
  118.   o Network timeout options are now adjustable from within the Setup.
  119.  
  120.   o The "Exit" menu item is now optional.
  121.  
  122.   o A new option, "Minimize on reader launch", has been added.

  124.   o The desktop color can be selected via a button in the Colors
  125.     page/tab in the Setup.

  127.   o Alt-F10 is used as an accelerator key for the Clear and Show
  128.     menu items.

  130.   o Profiles for MS Exchange and Windows Messaging appear in a
  131.     dropdown list in the Setup (32-bit version only).

  133.   o GroupWise mail is now supported, using Simple MAPI.
