  1. SANITARIUM DEMO

  4. You must have DirectX 5 installed to run the Sanitarium Demo.

  7. SPECIAL NOTE:

  10. This demo contains video and audio that is of lesser quality than the final
  11. game in order to conserve file space on the CD and your hard drive.

  15. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

  18. The Sanitarium Demo requires:
  19.  
  20.         Pentium 90 or faster
  21.         DirectX supported PCI Video Card with 1 Meg video RAM
  22.         DirectX supported sound card
  23.         83 Megs hard drive space to install
  24.         About 50 megs free hard drive space for the Windows swap file

  29. CONTROLS
  30. --------

  32.         WALKING
  33.  
  34.                 Holding down the RIGHT mouse button will cause the cursor
  35.                 to change to a gold arrow.  The main character will then
  36.                 begin walking in the direction the arrow indicates.  Moving
  37.                 the mouse around while the character is walking will cause
  38.                 him to shift directions based on the direction of the gold
  39.                 arrow.

  41.                 NOTE: You can also walk using the LEFT button if the cursor
  42.                 appears as a gold arrow on the screen, but walking using the
  43.                 RIGHT button is the preferred method.

  45.         OTHER ACTIONS
  46.  
  47.                 All actions other than walking are represented by cursors
  48.                 with crosshairs at the upper left.  You should use the
  49.                 crosshair to target what you want to click on.

  51.          LOOKING
  52.                 When the cursor appears as a magnifying glass, click the
  53.                 LEFT button to hear the main character's thoughts on the
  54.                 item the cursor is over.

  56.         USING
  57.                 When the cursor appears as a hand, click the LEFT button
  58.                 to have the main character attempt to do something with
  59.                 the item the cursor is over.

  61.         ACCESSING INVENTORY
  62.  
  63.                 Click the LEFT button over the main character, then click
  64.                 the LEFT button again over the item you want to use.  The
  65.                 cursor will turn into that item.  Click the item over the
  66.                 object you want to use it with, or click again on the main
  67.                 character to put away the item.

  69.         USING INVENTORY
  70.  
  71.                 You can tell if you can use an inventory cursor with a
  72.                 certain item if the inventory cursor pulses when you
  73.                 place the crosshair over that item.  Otherwise the
  74.                 inventory cursor will remain a static image of the
  75.                 inventory object.

  77.         EXITING

  79.                 Press the Q key if you want to exit the playable portion
  80.                 of the demo before you reach the end.

  96.         To uninstall the Sanitarium demo, run the Add/Remove Program Files
  97.         applet from the Control Panel.  Select Sanitarium in the program
  98.         list, and click 'Add/Remove...'.
