  8. about Norton CrashGuard. Topics include:

  17. CrashGuard 3.03 fixes a bug which caused some computers to open a
  18. folder or start another program instead of loading CrashGuard when 
  19. the computer started.  This release fixes a lock-up which occurred
  20. intermittently when starting some computers.

  22. Compatibility with Dr. Watson in Windows 98
  23. -------------------------------------------
  24. Dr. Watson won't log program crashes while Norton CrashGuard is
  25. running.  If a vendor asks you to run Dr. Watson to produce a report
  26. of a crash, you must close Norton CrashGuard.  To close Norton 
  27. CrashGuard, click the small shield icon beside the clock on your
  28. taskbar, then select "Exit" on the pop-up menu.

  30. Deleting CrashGuard
  31. -------------------
  32. Use the Add/Remove programs feature in the Windows Control Panel to 
  33. completely remove CrashGuard from your system. If you do not completely 
  34. remove CrashGuard, your computer might not report program errors if 
  35. it expects CrashGuard to handle them. The system might suspend the 
  36. program until you use Ctrl+Alt+Del to close it. To correct this problem, 
  37. use the Registry Editor (REGEDIT.EXE) to delete this key from the 
  38. registry (if it exists):

  40. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\aeDebug

  42. To use REGEDIT.EXE, select Run in the Start menu. Then type REGEDIT.EXE 
  43. in the Command Line text box. Navigate through the path listed above and 
  44. delete the aeDebug key.  (The aeDebug key appears in the left pane of 
  45. the Registry Editor window.  It resembles a folder.)

  48. Disabling CrashGuard's Crash Protection
  49. ---------------------------------------
  50. When you turn off CrashGuard, it must continue to provide protection to 
  51. any program which has previously crashed but has not closed yet.  Even
  52. so, CrashGuard disconnects from the system when you turn it off, so it
  53. won't catch new crashes in other programs.
