  6.              You may now register RAR and FAR via the Internet.
  7.  
  8.  We are pleased to announce several new methods of registering your RAR
  9.  and FAR software via the internet.  The following options are offered
  10.  for your use:
  11.  
  12.    1) We have made a partnership agreement with NorthStar Solutions who 
  13.    will accept your credit card payments on-line.  To use this system, 
  14.    please point your web browser to NorthStar's secure website:

  18.    Product codes to use for NorthStar Solutions are as follows:

  20.    FAR file manager for Windows-95/NT                       2874
  21.    RAR Archiver for Dos, Win 3.x (32-bit), Windows-95/NT    2873
  22.    RAR Archiver for OS/2                                    2872

  24.    Please note that registration for Dos entitles use for Windows 3.x 
  25.    (32-bit) and Windows-95/NT.  Registration keyfile(s) will be 
  26.    supplied by email, generally within 24 hours following acceptance 
  27.    by NorthStar Solutions.

  29.    2) You may also register using secure email, directly to FAR/RAR HQ
  30.    as detailed below:

  32.  Payment is accepted by Credit Card (Visa/Mastercard/Eurocard/Ok),
  33.  and will be charged to your account in US dollars. The charge will be
  34.  made by T:mi Softronic of Finland.
  35.  
  36.  Simply complete the registration form below, and then use the following
  37.  step by step instructions for submitting your registration application.
  38.  
  39.  NB: It is NOT advisable to send the form in "plain text" mode via the
  40.  Internet, as your credit card details may be obtained by a third party
  41.  whilst in transit. The following procedure has been designed to protect
  42.  your personal details from falling into the wrong hands:
  43.  
  44.    1) Send an e-mail to "secure.rar@knowledgebase.fi" or 
  45.    "secure.far@knowledgebase.fi", where the text of your message is ONLY a 
  46.    password that you intend to use. There should not be any other text in 
  47.    the message, and the password should be between five and twelve 
  48.    characters long. It may be any combination of numbers and letters, but 
  49.    should not include spaces or punctuation marks.  Please note that the 
  50.    password is case-sensitive.  Connect with your internet provider and send 
  51.    the message immediately it is ready to send, and before completing any 
  52.    other steps. This will ensure that this message does not travel at the 
  53.    same instance as the next message you are going to create.

  55.    2) Complete your registration form, and then save it to a plain text
  56.    file in the format <surname>.<intitals>, where <surname> is the first
  57.    eight characters of your surname, and <initials> is your initial(s).
  58.  
  59.    For example, in the case of someone named John Peters, the file should
  60.    be named PETERS.J
  61.  
  62.    Now, using RAR's password protection feature, compress the file into a
  63.    RAR archive, using the following command line, and the password you chose
  64.    in 1) above:
  65.  
  66.          RAR a <surname>.RAR <surname>.<intials> -m5 -p<passwword>
  67.  
  68.    Example:
  69.  
  70.          RAR a PETERS.RAR PETERS.J -m5 -pjohnspwrd
  71.  
  72.    This will produce a small passworded file, containing your registration
  73.    form.

  75.    The final stage is to send an email message to either:
  76.  
  77.               priority.rar@knowledgebase.fi or 
  78.               priority.far@knowledgebase.fi 
  79.  
  80.    with the .RAR file you just created as an attachment.  The body of the 
  81.    message can contain anything you like, as long as the attachment is in 
  82.    place.

  84.    Providing your first message containing your password has been received,
  85.    your application will be processed, generally within 24 hours. In the 
  86.    case of a password arriving without a file, or a file without a password, 
  87.    you will be notified after a period of 24 hours has elapsed.

  89.    Applications are normally ready for return within 24 hours. Your 
  90.    Registration Code will be returned to you in the same way as you sent in 
  91.    your application - in other words, you will receive an email message with 
  92.    a file attachment.  The file attachment will be a RAR archive which you 
  93.    can unRAR using the same password as you specified before. Within the RAR 
  94.    archive will be a text file containing your registration details, and 
  95.    full instructions for inserting your code into RAR or FAR.

  98.    Now please complete Section 1 of the above instructions, and e-mail
  99.    your password to either "secure.rar@knowledgebase.fi",  or 
  100.    "secure.far@knowledgebase.fi" before completing the registration form
