  5. 1. Description
  6. Active SMART Monitor is a full-featured failure-prediction 
  7. agent for machines using Windows 95, 98, NT, Me, 2000 and XP. 
  8. Sitting in the system tray, it monitors hard disks and 
  9. alerts you to impending failure. The program uses Self 
  10. Monitoring and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) built into 
  11. all new hard disks, and can predict failures on your hard drives. 
  12. A host of alerting features include email, local pop-up messages,
  13. net messages, and event logging, while using no system resources.

  17. * A computer running Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT4, 
  18. Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows XP
  19. * Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 or later recommended. 
  20. * Approximately 1MB of free hard disk space.

  26. Once you have downloaded the file, asmonitor.exe. Follow 
  27. the on-screen prompts to install Active SMART Monitor.
