  12. GeoTools is specifically designed for AutoCAD Release 14/2000,
  13. AutoCAD Map R2, R3, R4, AutoCAD Land Development Desktop and AutoCAD
  14. Architectural Desktop. GeoTools ia an application designed to meet the
  15. real world needs of AutoCAD GIS production. GeoTools is a collection of high
  16. performance programs, macros, toolbars and abbreviated commands designed for
  17. the analysis and conversion of geographic data. GeoTools is compiled into a
  18. user friendly dialog box driven application to make AutoCAD GIS more
  19. productive and efficient.  Customized versions and add-ons are also
  20. available for client-specific needs.

  44. The following license applies to the evaluation version of GeoTools.

  46. You should carefully read the following terms and conditions
  47. before using this software.  Unless you have a different license
  48. agreement signed by Sentinel USA, Inc. and Four Dimension
  49. Technologies, your use of this software indicates your acceptance
  50. of this license agreement and warranty.

  52. Evaluation and Registration
  53.  
  54. GeoTools is not free software.  Subject to the terms below, you are
  55. hereby licensed to use this software for evaluation purposes
  56. without charge for a period of 30 days.  If you use this software
  57. after the 30 day evaluation period a registration fee of $399.00 for one
  58. license is required.  Payments must be in US dollars drawn on a US bank,
  59. and should be sent to Sentinel USA, Inc., 51 North Third Street,
  60. Suite 203, Newark, OH 43055. Credit card ordering and quantity discounts
  61. are available, as described in the file ORDER.TXT.  When payment
  62. is received you will be sent a registered copy of the latest
  63. version of GeoTools.

  65. Unregistered use of Geotools after the 30-day evaluation period is in
  66. violation of U.S. and international copyright laws.

  109. 2.) HOW TO USE THIS DOCUMENT

  111. To view GeoToolsReadMe.TXT on screen in Notepad
  112. or WordPad, maximize the Notepad or WordPad
  113. window.

  115. To print README.TXT in Notepad or WordPad, choose
  116. Print from the File menu.  If you use another
  117. word processor, select the entire document and
  118. format the text in 10-point Courier before
  119. printing to ensure proper spacing.

  121. To print README.TXT from the DOS prompt, type
  122. COPY README.TXT PRN:

  127. This README.TXT file covers compatibility
  128. information, late-breaking news, and usage tips
  129. for the GeoTools software.

  131. The following topics are discussed:

  133. 3-1. Completion of GeoTools Installation
  134. --------------------------------------
  135.  
  136. GeoTools is now almost installed except for a
  137. small setting that needs to be done under the
  138. AutoCAD Preferences dialog. We chose not to do
  139. this automatically as part of the installation
  140. program to enable you to configure your GeoTools
  141. exactly how you want it as we realize that you
  142. may be running multiple versions and / or multiple
  143. configurations of AutoCAD.
  144.  
  145. In the "Preferences" menu, go to the "Files" tab
  146. and open the "Support files search path". Choose
  147. "Add" and "Browse", then point to the location
  148. where the main GeoTools application files are
  149. located. By defualt, the installation program
  150. would have installed this under the
  151. "C:\Four Dimensions\GeoTools" folder.
  152.  
  153. There are various ways in which you may like to
  154. start your GeoTools program.
  155.  
  156. 1. If you do not already use an ACAD.LSP, you can
  157. use the ACAD.LSP template supplied with GeoTools.
  158. This enables you to load GeoTools automatically
  159. when you start AutoCAD or will prompt you to load
  160. GeoTools with a "Yes/No" option. You can control
  161. this behavior by commenting the appropriate lines
  162. in the ACAD.LSP file as described in the ACAD.LSP
  163. file comments.
  164.  
  165. If the loading was not done automatically upon
  166. AutoCAD startup, GeoTools can either be loaded or
  167. unloaded any time later using the GT_LOAD and
  168. GT_UNLOAD commands respectively.
  169.  
  170. Alternatively, you can load and unload GeoTools
  171. using the "Load" and "UnLoad" options in the
  172. GeoTools menu.
  173.  
  174. 2. If you already have an ACAD.LSP, you can
  175. either copy the contents of the supplied ACAD.LSP
  176. to merge with your existing ACAD.LSP or you can
  177. load GeoTools separately by first loading the
  178. loader program GT_LOAD.LSP and then using either
  179. the GT_LOAD or GT_UNLOAD commands to either load
  180. or unload GeoTools.
  181.  
  182. To load GeoTools, browse to the file GT_LOAD.LSP
  183. (you can use the APPLOAD command to do this) and
  184. load it. This loads the GeoTools main executable
  185. GEOT.ARX (for AutoCAD Release 14) and GEOT.VLX
  186. (for AutoCAD 2000) and the GeoTools menu.

  203. CD-ROM Versions of GeoTools have the Adobe Acrobat
  204. reader installation file already copied into the
  205. CD-ROM under the filename ar32301.exe. Double
  206. click on this file to install the reader if you do
  207. not already have it.
  208.  
  209. Users who have downloaded this version from the
  210. web will have to download the Acrobat reader
  211. seperately. It is not included in the web version
  212. of GeoTools.
  213.
