  1. 2004-08-04    v1.2.14
  2.         - bugfix: libpcap0.8 was missing (for tcpdump)
  3.         - the following packages/programs were updated:
  4.           fwlogwatch, clamav, avscan, smbmount, rkhunter
  5.         - p0f - a passive OS fingerprinting tool - was added.
  6.         - the ability to create boot floppies (mkfloppy.bat and mkfloppy.sh 
  7.           was removed. (The files didn't fit on a floppy anymore.
  8.           This should be re-added asap.)
  9.         - a bug with the 'toram' boot option was fixed. Now all files

  11.         - to save space the cloop is now compressed with best compression 
  12.           to keep the size of the image under 50MB (50x1024x1024 bytes).

  17.         - updated system boot scripts and hardware detection

  19.         - these two together leave us with much better hardware support 
  20.           and detection (e.g. more SCSI drivers plus USB and Firewire drivers 
  21.           in the miniroot: boot from external drives)
  22.         - the version number jumped a bit forward. That's because lots of
  23.           major improvements/updates have been made, and it matches
  24.           (well, halfway:)) the new kernel version so nicely.
  25.         - the long-standing bug with the ISO file system on the CD not being
  26.           readable from windows OS was fixed.
  27.         - the kernel was patched to use the new NTFS driver from linux-ntfs.
  28.           This amounts to much better performance and to stable, yet limited 
  29.           write support (apart from captive).
  30.         - Jee, I always thought parted was included. Well, now it is.
  31.           Same applies for acl.
  32.         - it is now possible to save the INSERT-configuration (saveconfig) or
  33.           the contents of the INSERT user's home (mkpersistenthome) to a 
  34.           directory aka to a mounted device (e.g. USB-stick).
  35.         - added shfs which makes it possible to mount remote file systems via SSH.
  36.           Simply use shfsmount. (Similar things can be done with lufs as well, 
  37.           but this one comes with some nice and decent features.)
  38.         - added foremost (on request); a forensics tools to recover certain 
  39.           file types from an image or directly from disk.
  40.         - added support for the Belgian keyboard (as requested).
  41.         - clamav was updated to the much improved version 0.73.
  42.         - replaced fdisk-udeb with cfdisk.
  43.         - added unrar.
  44.         - removed (unused) wmbutton and module-init-tools.
  45.         - moved from wmifs to wmnd for displaying the network bandwith usage.
  46.         - added mount.app. Mounting by clicking is now possible:)
  47.         - removed the Alcatel Speedtouch driver.
  48.         - most of the other packages were updated!!
  49.         - the virus database for clamav was updated to the latest version.

  53.         - Support for mounting SMB filesystems was added (smbmount).
  54.           Now it is possible to mount MS Windows or Samba shares,

  56.         - the French and Swiss keyboard layouts were added and should work.
  57.         - huh, just noticed that we don't have a telnet client - now we have one.
  58.         - the rootkit hunter was updated and should finally work.
  59.           (corrects a problem with the read-only filesystem.)
  60.         - clamav was updated and now also detecs MS Office VBA macro viruses.
  61.         - the ntfsutils were updated.
  62.         - the virus database for clamav was updated to the latest version.

  64.         - thanks to the Multivalent PDF Tools it was possible to compress our 
  65.           included information material to about half its size! This made room for:
  66.         - avscan, a graphical frontend for the virus scanner clamav (was added), 
  67.           which should make it a bit easier for newbies to scan for viruses and 
  68.           which also generally is a quite-nice-to-have,
  69.           This makes INSERT probably the first distribution providing a free,
  70.           and easy to use virus scanner with a GUI.

  115.           This version, which also has been mass-replicated, features many major
  116.           improvements, the most important of which are:
  117.         - freshly built upon/from the newest available version V3.3-031119 of KNOPPIX,
  118.           which brings us linux kernel 2.4.22-xfs and the ability to copy the installation
  119.           to RAM or to HD during boot time (free your optical drive:)
  120.         - full read-WRITE-support on NTFS-partitions using captive!
  121.           With captive and two files from your Windows(tm)-installation fairly stable
  122.           support for write access to NTFS partitions is being achieved.
  123.         - The drivers and modules for LVM-support have been added allowing access to
  124.           logical volumes created with LVM.
  125.         - The missing floppy boot image has been added (coyp to floppy if your CD-ROM 
  126.           doesn't boot).
  127.         - the latest version of nmap has been added. This unfortunately kicked lcrzoex 
  128.           out of the boat (will try to readd it later).
  129.         - Man pages have been added leading to much increased comfort for those who
  130.           don't know the 2000 options and parameters of xxxx from memory.
