  1. Read Me File for Disk Manager 6.03C Patch: DMPATCH.EXE
  2.  
  3. This patch is a subset of the Disk Manager 6.03C.  To use it, run 
  4. 'DMCFIG /U' at the DOS command line.  It will then update the 
  5. Dynamic Drive Overlay and/or the DMDRVR.BIN and XBIOS.OVL files
  6. to version 6.03C.  In a Windows 95 environment it will also modify
  7. the SYSTEM.INI file to remove WDCDRV.386 if it has been inadvertently
  8. installed in this environment.
  9.  
  10. It includes the following files from the standard 6.03C release: 
  11.  
  12.       dmcfig.exe    
  13.       dmcfig.ocs
  14.       xbios.ovl
  15.       ddloader.bin
  16.       wdcdrv.386
  17.       dmdrvr.bin
  18.       readme.1st ** this file **
  19.  
  20. and Windows NT and OS/2 support files:
  21.  
  22.       atdisk.sys
  23.       atdisk.txt
  24.       nt.txt
  25.       ibm1s506.add
  26.       ibmidecd.flt
  27.       os2asd.dmd
  28.       os2.txt
  29.  
  30. These files contain the most up-to-date Disk Manager drivers for:
  31.  
  32. * Windows 95
  33. * Windows NT 3.5x
  34. * OS/2 2.1x and WARP
  35.  
  36. and they also fixes numerous issues with IBM PS/1 Value Point machines.
  37.  
  38. The following is a procedure for updating your Western Digital v6.03
  39. diskette and installation with these new drivers.
  40.  
  41.  
  42. TO INSTALL DISK MANAGER.
  43.  
  44. 1. Backup the data on your hard drive.  A Disk Manager install will
  45. destroy any and all previous data on the drive.
  46.  
  47. 2. Make a working copy of your Western Digital Disk Manager version
  48. 6.03, 6.03a or 6.03b and replace the DDLOADER.BIN, and XBIOS.OVL
  49. files with the new ones.

  51. 3. To install the drive from scratch, run DM.EXE and select Easy Disk
  52. Installation from the Disk Manager Main Menu.  Disk Manager will then
  53. completely install the hard drive and make it ready for your data.

  56. DISK MANAGER UPGRADE PROCEDURE:
  57.  
  58. If the drive was installed by Western Digital version 6.03, 6.03a or
  59. 6.03b and only an upgrade is desired, follow the procedure listed below.

  61. 1. Backup the data on your hard drive.  This is designed to be a 
  62. nondestructive process, but... sometimes accidents do happen.
  63.  
  64. 2. Make a working copy of your Western Digital Disk Manager version
  65. 6.03, 6.03a, or 6.03b and replace the DDLOADER.BIN and XBIOS.OVL files
  66. with the new ones.

  68. 3. Run DMCFIG/U to upgrade the Disk Manager drivers on your hard 
  69. drive.

  72. OS/2 AND WINDOWS-NT INSTALLATION PROCEDURES:
  73.             
  74. There are two text files called OS2.TXT and NT.TXT that explain the 
  75. installation procedures for OS/2 versions 2.1x and 3.0 (Warp) and 
  76. Windows-NT versions 3.5 and 3.51.
