  205.    Using Power Playback Utilities
  206.    ------------------------------
  207.    To use the Power Playback utilities on Dynamite products, you
  208.    need to have Video for Windows installed. Otherwise, you
  209.    will get error messages like "Cannot find MSVIDEO.DLL ...".
  210.  
  211.    You can obtain a copy of the runtime version of Video for Windows
  212.    from on-line services like America Online, or from BBS services
  213.    like the Hercules BBS.

  217.    Using the VESA BIOS Extension Display Modes
  218.    -------------------------------------------
  219.    Some models of the Dynamite products have the VESA BIOS
  220.    Extension (VBE) implemented within the on-board Video BIOS. In
  221.    this case, you do not need to load the VESA.COM TSR program in
  222.    order to utilize any of the VESA extended display modes.

  226.    SPEEDY: Windows Performance Benchmark Test
  227.    ------------------------------------------
  228.    SPEEDY, a Windows performance benchmark test, is included
  229.    with this Hercules product. This test is designed to perform
  230.    a standard set of Windows graphics functions and compute a
  231.    performance metric called a "SPEEDMARK." A higher "SPEEDMARK"
  232.    indicates better performance. This test can also be used to
  233.    measure performance of any display adapter that supports
  234.    Windows.

  236.    SPEEDY is available in the Hercules program group. Double-
  237.    click on the Speedy icon to launch the SPEEDY program. Press
  238.    F2 to initiate an "Auto Run" test, F10 to exit the program,
  239.    and F1 to view the on-line documentation.

  243.    Windows -- Known Limitations
  244.    ----------------------------
  245.    DOS Windows:
  246.      1) It is not possible to run most VGA graphics applications
  247.         in a windowed DOS window session. Instead, choose to run
  248.         your VGA graphics application at full screen.

  252.    DOS Games -- Flickering Display
  253.    -------------------------------
  254.    Some high speed DOS games use an undocumented VGA feature
  255.    that is not supported on the Tseng Labs ET4000/W32 used on
  256.    the D201 and D501 models. (NOTE: The D201E uses a W32i and 
  257.    will not have this problem).  Programs that attempt to use 
  258.    this feature may produce a flickering display.  Workarounds
  259.    and patches are available for the following applications: 
  260.  
  261.      1) Spectrum Holobyte Falcon 3.0: 
  262.         A patch from Spectrum Holobyte is available on the 
  263.         Hercules BBS.
  264.  
  265.      2) Microsoft Flight Simulator 4: 
  266.         Select the slow/no flicker option, or upgrade to Flight 
  267.         Simulator 5.
  268.  
  269.      3) Sublogic ATP: 
  270.         Select [F5] to bring up the Graphics menu and select one 
  271.         of the flicker/speed options that gives the best 
  272.         combination of speed and stability.

  274.    If you own any other programs which exhibit this problem, you 
  275.    may wish to inquire with your software vendor to see if a fix 
  276.    is available.

  280.    AutoCAD ADI Driver

  282.    If you would like a copy of the AutoCAD ADI driver, please
  283.    call the Hercules Technical Support department or BBS.

  287.    Documentation Errata

  289.    About the DPMS screen saver:
  290.      You must first copy the file DYNADPMS.SCR from your Dynamite
  291.      software directory (e.g. C:\HERCULES) into your Windows
  292.      directory (e.g. C:\WINDOWS) before selecting this screen
  293.      saver in Windows.
  294.  
  295.    About the VESA BIOS installation:
  296.      If your Dynamite product's on-board Video BIOS contains the
  297.      VESA BIOS Extension (VBE), the installation program will
  298.      not present you with the "Install VESA BIOS Extension
  299.      Support" option during the installation process. You do not
  300.      need to install anything to utilize the VESA extended
  301.      display modes.
  302.  
  303.    About the font utilities:
  304.      The custom font loader (FLOAD), font editor (FEDIT), and font
  305.      files are no longer included in the installation diskette.
  306.      Please call the Hercules Technical Support department or BBS
  307.      to obtain a copy (DYNFONTS.ZIP).
