  1. 1. This License is granted in return for  purchase of 
  2. the associated printer or payment of the appropriate fee 
  3. as specified by HP.

  5. 2. In return for the above consideration, HP grants a 
  6. non-exclusive right to use one copy of the Software with 
  7. any computer connected to the associated printer.

  9. 3. This License binds the customer who opens this 
  10. Software package and any transferee authorized pursuant 
  11. to section 8 below.  For purposes of this license:

  13. a. The term "user" means such customer and any 
  14. authorized transferee; and
  15.  
  16. b. The term "use" means storing, loading, installing, 
  17. executing, or displaying the Software.

  19. 4. The  Software may not be duplicated or copied except 
  20. for  purposes of archival, backup, error identification, 
  21. or replacement of defective media.  All copies of the 
  22. Software must bear the copyright and other proprietary 
  23. notices on or in the original media as well as any 
  24. restricted rights legends on or in the original media.

  26. 5. This License does not include the right to updates, 
  27. upgrades, or other enhancements.  However, this License 
  28. does apply to any update,  upgrade, or other enhancement 
  29. if provided by HP.  HP reserves the right to require an 
  30. additional license and fee for use of the Software on 
  31. any upgraded computer, processor, or controller.

  33. 6. This License confers no title or ownership in the 
  34. Software, and confers no rights whatsoever in any 
  35. associated source code or in any other intellectual 
  36. property of HP or its third parties supplier(s).  This 
  37. License is not a sale of any rights in the Software.

  39. 7. The Software may not be disassembled, decompiled, 
  40. decrypted,  or reverse engineered unless HP's prior 
  41. written consent is either obtained or not required by 
  42. law.  Upon request, the user will provide HP with 
  43. reasonably detailed information regarding any 
  44. disassembly, decompilation, decryption, or reverse 
  45. engineering.

  47. 8. This License is transferable subject to HP's prior 
  48. written consent and payment to HP of any applicable 
  49. transfer fee(s), and subject to the transferee's 
  50. agreement in writing to the terms and conditions of 
  51. this License.  Upon any such transfer, the transferor 
  52. will immediately  deliver all copies of the Software to 
  53. the authorized transferee, and the transferor's rights 
  54. under this License will automatically terminate.  This 
  55. License is also binding on any involuntary transferee.

  57. 9. Any third party supplier of the software may protect 
  58. its rights in the Software against violations of this 
  59. License, including any infringement of the third party 
  60. supplier's copyright(s).

  62. 10. HP may terminate this License upon notice to the 
  63. user for failure to comply with this License.  
  64. Immediately upon the termination of this License, the 
  65. user will destroy or return to HP all copies of the 
  66. Software, including all copies from any adaptation into 
  67. which such copies are merged (except for individual 
  68. pieces of user data in a related database).

  70. 11. If the Software is licensed for use by the U.S. 
  71. government, the user agrees that the Software has been 
  72. developed entirely at private expense and is delivered 
  73. as "Commercial Computer Software" as defined in 
  74. DFARS 252.227-7013 or as "restricted computer software" 
  75. as defined in  FAR 52.227-19, as appropriate.
