  14. This document is intended to get the user started using the VIRUSCAN product 
  15. in the Windows environment.  The following files should be in your current 
  16. directory:

  40.        CHECKING THE AUTHENTICITY OF VIRUSCAN FOR WINDOWS

  42. To get the validation code for the WINSTALL.EXE program, type

  83.                 GETTING STARTED
  84.  
  85. NOTE: With this release, we will now be archiving our software with 
  86. PKZIP v.2.04g.
  87.  
  88. To run VIRUSCAN in the Windows environment, first run WINSTALL.EXE from the
  89. DOS command line.  This program will prompt the user for the name of the
  90. directories to store the necessary files.  If these directories does not exist,
  91. WINSTALL.EXE will create them.  It will then proceed to copy the files that 
  92. will be needed to that directory.
  93.  
  94. Then, the user will be prompted for the name of their Windows directory.  
  95. This is where SCAN.PIF will be placed.
  96.  
  97. Next, the user should bring up Windows and run the SETUP program to search 
  98. for Windows files in its current directory.  If running Windows 3.0, it will
  99. search the specified drive and "SCAN for Windows" will be found.  At that 
  100. point, the user should include it in the list of files to be added.  If 
  101. Windows 3.1 is being used, you can either do the same search as above, or
  102. specify which file to be added by typing in the path you have selected, with
  103. the name of the WSCAN executable.  For example, if the path you chose was
  104. C:\SCAN, you would then type in:
  105.  
  106. C:\SCAN\WSCAN116.EXE
  107.

  109. "Scan for Windows" will be found in the Windows Applications group.

  113. For information on running VIRUSCAN with its various options, please refer 
  114. the on-line help service in VIRUSCAN for Windows.  Choose the "Help" menu 
  115. item from the "Help" menu.
