- Note to Registered GFile revision 2.0 users
- ===========================================
- If you are a registered user of GFile 2.0, you are entitled to use 2.0A without
- additional registration fees or requirements.
-
- License Information
- ===================
- The user of this program, by the action of using the program, agrees to
- the license and warranty terms below.
-
- GFile is NOT public domain software, nor is it free. It is a
- commercial software product, distributed using the 'Shareware'
- concept. Under this concept, you are allowed to use GFile for
- a period of 30 days to determine if it is useful to you. After
- this initial trial period, if you wish to continue to use GFile,
- you must register it by sending $20 US (cash, check, or money order)
- to:
- Galen J. Bunnell
- P.O. Box 295
- West Warren, MA (,USA) 01092-0295
-
- Registrations are not transferable. Registration confers the right of an
- individual to use GFile revision 2.0 on any computer system.
- Businesses/organizations/institutions, please see the special note below.
-
- Please be sure to enclose your name and mailing address on a separate
- sheet. Do NOT count on the return address on the envelope being readable.
-
- Upon receipt of your registration, you will be sent a letter confirming
- your registration. You will also be sent letters informing you of future
- revisions/updates of GFile.
-
- Registration does not constitute ownership of GFile or any associated files.
-
- No component of GFile may be modified, renamed, disassembled, or otherwise
- reverse-engineered, except as described in the program documentation.
-
- Limited Warranty
- =================
-
- Although all efforts are made to insure proper operation of this program,
- I cannot guarantee it will perform correctly on all systems under all
- possible configurations. Therefore, before using GFile (or any new program),
- back up your system completely and perform rigorous testing before relying
- on GFile for critical operations. The author is not responsible for any
- damage, loss, or problems caused directly or indirectly from the use of
- GFile or any associated files. The liability of the author for the program
- not operating as desired or expected shall be limited to the registration
- fee paid for use of the program.
-
- Distribution
- ============
-
- Anyone, registered or not, is encouraged to distribute GFile. However,
- any distribution of GFile must conform to the following restrictions:
-
- 1. All files (as listed below) that make up the GFile product must
- be distributed as a single entity, and they may not be changed
- or modified (archival/compression techniques excepted) from
- their original form. If installed on a computer system, all files
- that make up the GFile product must be present and must be in the
- same directory.
- 2. Any commercial distribution of GFile must explicitly state in
- advertisements, catalogs, accompanying files, and any other
- promotional literature that buying the distribution does NOT
- confer the right to use GFile for other than the initial 30 day
- trial period, and that further use requires registration. Also,
- the distributor may not claim authorship or ownership of GFile.
- 3. Commercial distributors, and bulletin boards may bundle GFile
- with other files containing promotional or instructional
- information so long as the restrictions of item 2 above are
- honored. However, GFile may not be bundled with other programs
- without the express written permission of the author.
-
- The following files make up GFile. If the distribution you received does not
- contain all of them, it is an invalid distribution.
-
- gfile.exe - The program file
- gfiledll.dll - A dynamic link library required to run gfile.exe
- gfilecmd.pif - A PIF used to implement the command line
- operations. See the appropriate Help entry
- (Launching Applications/Launching from the Command
- Line) for details.
- gfile.hlp - GFile Help file
- gfile.wri - The program user documentation file. Consists of a
- modified version of the Help file
- instalme.txt - Instructions on how to install/remove GFile
- readme.1st - This file
- technote.txt - Revision history, corrections/warnings, any other
- information concerning GFile that you should be
- aware of but which doesn't 'fit' into any of the
- other documentation files.
-
-
- Special Registration Note for Businesses/Organizations/Institutions
- ===================================================================
-
- Rather than register GFile for individuals, you may wish/need to register
- based on the number of users of GFile. To do so:
-
- Determine the number of people within your organization that
- will be running GFile concurrently.
- ============
-
- Submit registration fees for the determined number of users.
-
- Note that registration is based on usage - not the number of copies
- of GFile. In particular, if 10 (for example) users share a single
- networked copy of GFile, the correct registration fee is 10 * $20 or
- $200 - the same as if there were individual copies of GFile on each
- system. However, also note that if 5 of the individuals worked days
- and the other 5 nights, and there were never more than 5 instances
- of GFile running at once, the correct registration fee would be
- 5 * $20 or $100.
-
- Be sure to identify a single person, title, or office to which any
- technical correspondence should be directed.
-
-
- Submitting bug reports/suggestions for improvement
- ==================================================
-
- All users of GFile are encouraged to submit bug (program trouble) reports.
- Please provide as detailed a description of the error as possible. If the
- error is consistently reproduceable, please describe the steps needed to
- reproduce the error. Include as detailed a description of the hardware and
- software that make up the system as possible, including a listing of system
- files (config.sys, autoexec.bat, win.ini, system.ini). Any information that
- will help me reproduce the problem will result in quicker correction.
-
- Suggestions for improving GFile are always welcome. However, the order in
- which they are implemented is:
- 1. Suggestions from Registered Users/Sites
- 2. Suggestions from Registered Users/Sites
- 3. Suggestions from Registered Users/Sites
- 4. Suggestions from beta testers
- 5. Chief programmer's (my) ideas
- 6. Suggestions from unregistered sources
-
- If you deduce from this that registering is a good way to influence the
- future direction of GFile - You're correct. If you suspect that the Chief
- Programmer always has more ideas than time to implement them, and that
- suggestions received only from unregistered sources are rarely implemented -
- You're correct again.
-
- Please submit bug reports or suggestions for improvement to the same address
- as listed for registration. Thank you.
