- Version 3.4
-
-
- Not just a pretty face, Clock+ is a full-featured travel/alarm clock for
- the Palm ComputingĀ« Connected Organizer. See the current time at a glance
- with large easy-to-read anti-aliased digits. Use it to time intervals with
- minimal setup. Set an unlimited number of alarms, each with their own name,
- repeat and sound settings. View the local time for four selected locations
- anywhere in the world, automatically adjusted for daylight saving. Even
- have Clock+ remind you when daylight saving has just started or ended!
- Optimum support is provided for all monochrome, grayscale and color
- devices.
-
- Clock+ has passed the Palm 3.0 Platinum Compatibility Test Suite.
-
- Clock+ supports all Palm ComputingĀ« devices running Palm OS 2.0 (or later).
- This includes PalmPilot (Personal and Professional), Palm III series
- (including IIIc), Palm V/Vx, Palm VII/VIIx, Palm m100, Handspring Visor,
- IBM WorkPad series, TRGpro, Qualcom pdQ, Symbol SPT series and similar
- devices.
-
- The minimum amount of free storage required is 100KB.
-
-
- INSTALLATION
-
- To install Clock+, select the following files with the Palm Install tool to
- queue the application and database(s) for installation on the next HotSync:
-
- ClockPlus.prc (Clock+ application)
-
- and optionally:
-
- ClockPlusWorld2000.pdb (Full World database)
- ClockPlusMIDI.pdb (Additional alarm sounds - Palm OS 3.x only)
-
- The optional World database contains entries for all countries/timezones
- (over 300 countries plus nearly 1000 cities). If you do not install this,
- the Clock+ application will use an internal database of some 200 countries
- and 100 cities only. The full database can be installed at any time.
-
- If you have a prior version installed on your device, simply install this
- version on top of it. The application and databases will be automatically
- backed up on your computer (as required) on successive HotSyncs.
-
-
- FUNCTION
-
- The primary uses of Clock+ can be summarized as follows:
-
- * As an easy-to-read clock. Clock+ supports all international time formats
- and can optionally display seconds. Also, if you've assigned Clock+ to one
- of the hardware buttons, pressing this button will power up the device and
- instantly display the current time.
-
- * As a handy timer. The timer has large buttons so you can start/stop it
- without the stylus. For a quick countdown timer, set the start time in
- increments of 5 minutes by pressing the up/down key then tap Start. Just
- the thing for parking meters!
-
- * Set multiple alarms, even years in advance! For these, set the alarm
- options to Alarm (or Alarm+Backlight). When it expires, a dialog will be
- displayed. You'll then need to either tap OK to acknowledge the alarm, or
- Snooze to repeat the alarm sequence. Use your device as a flexible bedside
- Alarm clock!
-
- * For reminders, set the alarm options to Chime. The alarm will sound once
- and be re-scheduled (if it repeats). No interaction is required.
-
- * Display the exact time for any location in the world. The annual world
- database contains over 300 country/time zone entries and nearly 1000
- cities. It has up-to-date information on the time zone offset and daylight
- savings start/end dates and times to ensure that the world time is accurate
- to the minute. Tap the Swap button to change the device clock to local time
- on arrival at your destination.
-
- * Keep track of daylight saving changes. When you set your Home location,
- the appropriate DST events are automatically added to the Clock+ events
- database. When daylight saving starts or ends, Clock+ will prompt you to
- update the device clock.
-
-
- OPERATION
-
- Clock+ has five modes: Home, Calendar, Timer, Alarm and World. Select the
- desired mode by tapping on the appropriate icon at the top of the display.
- Also, if you've assigned Clock+ to one of your hardware buttons (with the
- Prefs application), repeatedly pressing this button will cycle through each
- mode in turn. Set the mode you want Clock+ to start with by tapping the
- Menu silk-screened button and selecting Preferences from the Options menu.
-
- When you start timers, set alarms or choose your Home location, Clock+
- stores these as events in its database. These events are always sorted in
- order of their date/time occurrence. To view all current events, tap the
- Menu silk-screened button and select List Events from the Record menu. As a
- handy shortcut, tapping anywhere on the clock digits (in the top half of
- the display) will invoke the Events List display.
-
- In fact, a large number of the displayed elements are hot, meaning that if
- you tap on them, something happens. Explore the interface by tapping
- everywhere!
-
- Clock+ has been designed to be fully self supporting on your device. For a
- description of each mode, tap the Menu silk-screened button and select Help
- from the Options menu. For help on dialogs, tap the small i (information)
- at top right of each dialog.

-
- REGISTRATION
-
- Clock+ is shareware. You may use this software for a period of up to 14
- days from installation for evaluation purposes. If you find the program
- useful and continue to use it, you are required to register (pay for it).
-
- Register online at any of the following:
-
- www.bitwareoz.com
-
- You'll need to provide your device's HotSync/User name when you register.
- This is the name you chose for your device when the Palm Desktop software
- was installed. If you've forgotten what this name was, it is displayed in
- the top right corner of the device display at the completion of a HotSync
- operation. It is also displayed in the Name field of the Clock+
- Registration dialog.
-
- On registration, you'll receive a personal license code that will cause the
- banner to be no longer displayed and enable you to continue using the
- software after the evaluation period. You'll also get free upgrades and
- technical support (e-mail only). Annual world database updates will be
- available for download each year in January.
-
-
- TECHNICAL SUPPORT
-
- Please send any queries, bug reports, and suggestions by e-mail to
- support@bitwareoz.com. All queries will be answered. Make sure you identify
- your device type and model, Palm OS version and Clock+ version.
-
-
- KNOWN ISSUES
-
- 1. There is a bug in Palm OS 3.1 through 3.3 that may cause alarms to be
- lost or delayed when the device is powered off. This is not restricted to
- Clock+ but affects alarms for other applications including the built-in
- Date Book. If you experience such problems, a soft reset (see your device
- manual) is reported to be an effective fix. Owners of flash enabled devices
- should upgrade to Palm OS 3.5 (when available). For more info, see:
-
- http://www.palm.com/support/helpnotes/hardware/alarm_prob.html
-
- 2. Installation of corrupted databases (.pdb files) will cause Clock+ to
- crash! Check that your unzip utility does not have an option to "translate
- line end characters" enabled. The Macintosh ZipIt utility is a common
- offender.
-
- 3. If you have FlashPro (or a similar utility) installed, you can reclaim
- storage by moving all provided files (application and databases) to flash
- memory. However, to avoid lost alarm events, resets etc. you MUST disable
- pending alarms (select Delete All Events from the Record menu) IMMEDIATELY
- PRIOR to moving the application to or from flash memory. The same applies
- when performing a Defragment Flash operation when the application is in
- flash memory. The Clock+ events database (created the first time you use
- Clock+) must NOT be moved to flash memory.
-
- 4. Some third-party application launchers don't cleanup correctly prior
- to passing control to Clock+ which can cause Clock+ to crash when the
- banner is dismissed. Contact the author of the launcher for a fix.
-
- If you experience other problems running Clock+ and have HackMaster or
- replacement application launchers installed, first disable these to
- determine the cause of the error. Such hacks and launchers may modify the
- operating environment of your device. If you find an incompatibility,
- please report this to the author of the hack/launcher.
-
-
- YEAR 2000 COMPLIANCE
-
- Clock+ is Year 2000 compliant. The operating date range of this software is
- January 1, 1904 to December 31, 2031 inclusive.
