  22. This is an evaluation copy of BeamWorks.  It will work completely unhindered 
  23. for 30 days.  After the 30 day period expires BeamWorks will cease to function
  24. until you purchase the commercial version ($12.95).

  26. How to Purchase

  29. Visit www.handango.com and find BeamWorks (using the search mechanism or in the
  30. "Business/Professional" category), then simply click on the "Add to cart" button

  40. What is BeamWorks?
  41. ------------------

  43. BeamWorks is an infrared utility for your Palm that will allow you to NATIVELY
  44. send and receive contact data to/from a Windows CE device.  BeamWorks will
  45. also allow you to send groups of contacts to a regular Palm without the
  46. need to send each one individually or send an entire category.  Each contact
  47. may be selected independent of the category it belongs to and can all be sent
  48. at once.  BeamWorks is compatible with the IR protocols of the built in
  49. applications of both Windows CE and Palm devices, and therefore has no
  50. requirement that it be installed on the remote device.

  52. Installing BeamWorks
  53. --------------------

  55. Install BeamWorks in the regular fashion using the Palm Install Tool.  Once
  56. installed, you must have BeamWorks running on your Palm in order to 
  57. send or receive contact data with a Windows CE device.

  59. Sending contact data
  60. --------------------

  62. To send contact information to a remote device, simply use the stylus to
  63. select the contact entry or entries you want to send.  Dragging the stylus
  64. can be used to select a group of consecutive entries.  Checking the
  65. "Sticky Select" checkbox will cause selected items to stay selected should
  66. you remove the stylus from the display and select another item.  This
  67. allows you to select groups of items from different parts of the list without
  68. having to hit the Send button twice.  Once you have selected all the contacts
  69. you would like to beam, simply hit the "Send" button.  If you would like to
  70. beam the selected contact entries to a Palm device, select the "Beam to Palm"
  71. checkbox.

  73. Receiving contact data
  74. ----------------------

  76. Receiving contact data is just as simple.  Just hit the "Receive" button and
  77. your Palm device will be capable of receiving contact data from Windows CE
  78. devices.  Unfortunately it is not possible to automatically receive incoming
  79. contact data from Palm because of the way in which the Windows CE IR stack works.

  81. To receive contact information from a Palm device, you must exit BeamWorks
  82. because of IR port sharing issues between BeamWorks and Exchange Manager
  83. (the built in OBEX server for PalmOS).  We are working towards a solution
  84. to this problem in a future release.

  86. Field mappings
  87. --------------

  89. BeamWorks will do it's best to map each field correctly to and from the
  90. Windows CE contact data.  All Palm to Palm communication will exchange contact
  91. records completely intact.  If you would like to customize the way in which
  92. BeamWorks maps incoming contact data, choose "Field Mappings" from the options
  93. menu.

  95. Beaming your business card
  96. --------------------------

  98. To quickly beam your business card, simply tap on the little icon that sits
  99. to the right of the "BeamWorks" program title.  This will send your business
  100. card to a Windows CE or Palm device, depending on the state of the
  101. "Beam to Palm" checkbox.
