Sorting Hat Version 1.01
Written April, 2000 by Jim Knopf, aka Jim Button.
http://home.earthlink.net/~jimknopf/
This is Totally free software.
No cost. No guilt. No support.
SYNOPSIS: This is a Sorting Hat, as described in
Harry Potter, book 1 pages 113-123. The Sorting Hat looks deep inside
you, selects a House for you to live in while at Hogwarts, and tells
you about your parents.
To INSTALL:
Hot-Sync the following files into your Palm Pilot:
SortHat.prc
PocketC.prc (Only needed if you don't already have it on your Palm Pilot.)
This is the run-time version. Do NOT put it on if you are a programmer
who develops using the PocketC compiler.
To USE:
Fill in the required information about yourself, then tap the
(SORT ME) button. The hat will do its magic and assign you to the
proper House, and will also tell you about your pedigree.
CHEATING:
Some young children can't deal with being sorted into some house other than
Gryffindore. On the other hand, some people justifiably deserve to be sorted into
Slytherin. For these reasons, a "cheat-mode" was added.
To "cheat" and sort the student into Gryffindore no matter what, discretely click the Page-Up
button before tapping (Sort Me.) To send the student assuredly to Slytherin, click the
Page-Down button before tapping (Sort Me.) You can verify that you have entered
"cheat mode" by observing the (Sort me) button. The "me" will normally be lower-case,
but it will change to upper-case in cheat mode.
In other words (Sort me) becomes (Sort Me).
MENU:
Stats: shows the sorting statistics (to date).
Clear: resets the statistics to zero.
About: gives the "about" box.
SOUNDS:
The sounds are there for the kids. They might be irritating, but hey,
the Sorting Hat does its own thing and we've got to let it work its magic.
What can I say? ... it's a cheap hat!
