  1. To get Planetarium up and running you need to:
  2. - Decide which files you want to install 
  3. - Install the files on your PDA device 
  4. - (If you are upgrading from a previous version) Export your personal 
  5.    data base entries to memos. (Please read the chapter "Databases" in the 
  6.    Manual for more details.)
  7. - Install the files on your PDA device
  8. - Start Planetarium and enter the registration code (if you have 
  9.     purchased Planetarium, otherwise the program just runs as demo version) 
  10. - (If you are upgrading from a previous version) Reimport your personal 
  11.    data base entries from the memos. (Please read the chapter "Databases" 
  12.    in the Manual for more details.)

  14. Which files to install
  15. ----------------------
  16. You should find the following files:
  17. Planet20.prc      - The main executable application file. 
  18. PlnStars1600.prc  - The small star data base. 
  19. PlnStars9096.prc  - The big star data base. 
  20. PlanetariumDB.pdb - A list of 600 Major cities. 
  21. UserObjsDB.pdb    - A list of about 200 deep sky objects. 
  22. PlnCometsDB.pdb   - A list of some comets and asteroids. 
  23. Alst there should be a subdirectory "Manual" which contains the user 
  24. manual in html.

  26. You need to install at least the file Planet20.prc and either 
  27. PlnStars1600.prc or PlnStars9096.prc. All the other files are optional.
  28. PlnStars1600.prc contains data of about 1600 stars down to magnitude 5. 
  29. Choose this file if you don't have very much free memory or don't need 
  30. faint stars in the program. 
  31. PlnStars9096.prc contains data of the complete Yale Bright Star Catalogue 
  32. with 9096 stars down to about magnitude 7 to 8. Choose this file if you 
  33. have enough free memory and would like to have fainter stars in the program. 
  34. You can switch the star data base later by just installing the other one of them.

  36. The data base files correspond with the following lists in the program:
  37. PlanetariumDB.pdb - The Location Pick list (Menu item "Options / Set Location", 
  38.                     then tap the "Pick" button) 
  39. UserObjsDB.pdb    - The Objects list (Menu item "Options / Objects") 
  40. PlnCometsDB.pdb   - The Comets and Asteroids list (Menu Item "Options / Comets 
  41.                     and Asteroids") 
  42. The data in these lists is backuped during HotSync every time you have made 
  43. changes or entered new data. To fill some or all of these lists with initial 
  44. data you can install the corresponding .pdb files from planet20.zip. They contain:
  45. PlanetariumDB.pdb - About 600 major cities from all over the world. 
  46. UserObjsDB.pdb    - 110 Messier objects and 110 Caldwell objects. 
  47. PlnCometsDB.pdb   - Some comets and asteroids.

  49. Installing the files
  50. --------------------
  51. If you are not familiar with installing files on your PDA, please have a look 
  52. at your documentation that came with your device or read the chapter "Installation"
  53. in the Planetarium user manual.

  55. Entering the registration code
  56. ------------------------------
  57. If you have purchased Planetarium you should have received a registration code. If 
  58. you don't have this registration code, Planetarium just runs as demo version. When 
  59. you enter the registation code, Planetarium will get converted into the full version.

  61. To enter the registration code you got, select the menu item "Info / Register" or 
  62. press the "Enter Key" button on the startup screen. Then enter the registration 
  63. code without any blanks or quotes and tap on the "OK" button. If you have entered 
  64. the key correctly, you will get a confirmation and Planetarium will run as full 
  65. version which you can convince yourself of in the About screen (menu item "Info / About").

  67. For very novice users: To select a menu item you tap on the lower left silk screen 
  68. button just at the left of the graffity area. Then you should see the menu bar at the 
  69. top of the display. You now select with the pen one of the items from this menu.
