  4.     Version information

  7.     Travel Clock 2000 will run on all versions of the Palm Pilot which run PalmOS 
  8.         version 2.0 or later, up to and including PalmOS3.5. 
  9.  
  10.     Travel Clock 2000 runs in color on devices that are capable of it (i.e. 
  11.     Palm IIIc). 
  12.     
  13.     If you only have one of the very early Palm Pilots that ran PalmOS 1.0, you can 
  14.     run Travel Clock Version 1.2, which is also available from PalmGear HQ.  
  15.           
  16.         Main screen
  17.     ===========
  18.           
  19.            The top half of the screen shows the time at your Home location. The 
  20.           bottom left of the screen shows the time at an Away location. You can 
  21.           choose locations from a database of over 120 places. The bottom right 
  22.           corner shows the Alarm time.
  23.  
  24.           If you tap the Away button at the top right corner, the Home and Away 
  25.           displays swap over, so you can see the Away time bigger, and adjust the 
  26.           Away location. 
  27.  
  28.           The Sun icon shows when Daylight Saving Time is in operation. This is 
  29.           calculated automatically, using rules in the database (which you can 
  30.           change).

  32.            Installation
  33.            ============

  35.            If you downloaded the ZIP file, unzip it onto your hard disk, using 
  36.           WinZip or a similar tool.
  37.  
  38.           Use the PalmPilot install tool to install the application file and the
  39.     location database.
  40.  
  41.     If you have the demo, choose one of the following files:
  42.  
  43.         cclockdem.prc if you want the color version.
  44.         clockdem.prc if you want the black and white version.
  45.  
  46.     If you have the registered version, choose one of the following files:
  47.  
  48.         cclock.prc if you want the color version.
  49.         clock.prc if you want the black and white version.
  50.  
  51.     Also install the location database, which is the same in all cases, and
  52.     is called places.pdb.   
  53.           
  54.            Getting started - setting your Home location
  55.            ============================================  
  56.            Click on the Travel Clock icon. If you are running the demo, the first 
  57.           thing you see is a message reminding you how to get the registered 
  58.           version. Click on OK to clear the message. (The registered version doesn't 
  59.           have this message - it takes you into the program right away.) 
  60.  
  61.           You should now see the main screen. The first time you use Travel Clock, 
  62.           you  have to tell it where you are, so it can work out the times in other 
  63.           places. Tap on the words 'Home location'. 
  64.  
  65.            Now you will see a list of places in the database. (If this list is 
  66.           empty, you didn't install the places.pdb file properly. Try installing it 
  67.           again.)

  69.           Choose your home location from the list, and press OK. If it isn't in the 
  70.           list, you can add a new location by tapping 'New'. 
  71.  
  72.           Changing the home location setting doesn't change the time being 
  73.           displayed. It tells Travel Clock where in the world you are. Then when you 
  74.           select another place as an Away location, Travel Clock can work out what 
  75.           time it is there.
  76.  
  77.           You can use the Travel facility to change the home time when you travel to 
  78.           another country or time zone.  
  79.           
  80.            Setting the away location
  81.            =========================   
  82.            Tap the Away button in the top right corner. This moves the Away time to 
  83.           the top half of the screen. Now you can tap 'Away location' to choose a 
  84.           place. The time display will change in line with your choice. It will be 
  85.           correct only if you have set Home location correctly too.

  87.            Setting the alarm
  88.            =================   
  89.            Tap the time displayed under the word 'Alarm'. This brings up a display 
  90.           that allows you to choose the alarm time to the nearest minute. The alarm 
  91.           will sound every day whenever Home time is equal to Alarm time. You can 
  92.           unset the alarm by tapping the bell icon. When the alarm sounds, the Pilot 
  93.           turns on if it was switched off, and a message is displayed. Tapping 'OK' 
  94.           stops the alarm until tomorrow. Tapping 'Snooze' silences the alarm for 
  95.           two minutes. If you don't tap either button, the alarm will continue for 
  96.           five minutes.

  98.           Some model of the Palm have a problem in that the alarm doesn't work at 
  99.           first when the device is turned off. If you have that problem, you can fix 
  100.           it by pressing Reset on your device. You should only have to do this once.

  103.            Travel facility
  104.            ===============   
  105.            You can reset the Home time to the Away time by using the Travel 
  106.           facility. Use this when you go on a trip to the Away location. Tap the 
  107.           airplane icon in the center of the bottom of the screen. If you answer Yes 
  108.           to the confirmation question that appears, the System time of the Pilot is 
  109.           changed to Away time, and Away time and Home time are swapped over.

  111.            Adding new places to the database
  112.            =================================   
  113.            You can add as many new locations to the database as you like. Just bring 
  114.           up the places list by tapping the location dropdown near the top of the 
  115.           screen, then tap the New button. 
  116.  
  117.           Enter the place name, and select its time zone, in hours relative to GMT. 
  118.           If Daylight Saving Time operates in this location during summer time, 
  119.           check the Daylight Saving Time box, and use the popup lists to give the 
  120.           rules for when DST is in operation. If you aren't sure, use one of the 
  121.           other places in the database as your guide. (You can look at the DST 
  122.           settings by tapping the Edit button.)

  124.           Most European countries have DST from the last Sunday in March to the last 
  125.           Sunday in October. North America has DST from the first Sunday in April to 
  126.           the last Sunday in October.
