  1. Directions for installing and using the PocketMoney Windows Conduit (v.2.2)

  4. 1. Installing and Upgrading PocketMoney Conduit
  5.     a. Quit HotSync.
  6.     b. Copy "P$COND.DLL" to the same directory that the HotSync application is in. 
  7.        (It is probably C:\Palm\  or C:\pilot\).
  8.        (If you do not see the P$COND.DLL file it is probably because Windows is set 
  9.         to hide all .DLL files. Set Windows to show .DLL files and then you will 
  10.         be able to copy it.)
  11.     c. Double Click on the P$COND.REG file. This will add and update some necessary 
  12.         data to the Windows Registry for the PocketMoney Conduit. 
  13.     d. Launch Hotsync and sync.

  16. 2. PocketMoney Conduit Options:
  17.     a. You can choose to upload from PocketMoney to the Palm or download from 
  18.         the desktop to PocketMoney.
  19.     b. Check All Transactions if you want PocketMoney to upload all transactions 
  20.         everytime. Otherwise the conduit will only upload the transactions that 
  21.         have been changed since the last upload. * If you have All Transactions 
  22.         checked the the PocketMoney.qif or PocketMoney.tdf file is deleted before 
  23.         uploading the full set of transactions again. If you do not have it checked 
  24.         then the conduit appends the new records to the end of the file.
  25.     c. File Formats: 
  26.         QIF - is Quicken Interchange Format - use this to upload and download 
  27.             between PocketMoney and Quicken or MS Money
  28.         TDF - is Tab Delimited Format - use this to upload and download between 
  29.             PocketMoney and spreadsheets or databases.
  30.     d. Date Format - pick the date format that you want the conduit to use.
  31.     e. Number Format - pick the number format that your desktop system uses.

  33. 3. Download data from desktop to Palm - QIF File Format
  34.     a. Open Quicken or MS Money, choose Export from the File menu, select what you want 
  35.        to export. 
  36.     b. Save the export file in the "ToPalm" folder located in the user hotsync 
  37.        directory in the PocketMoney directory. "C:\Palm\SmithJ\PocketMoney\ToPalm". 
  38.        (SmithJ will be your personal hotsync directory and most likely be your 
  39.        last name and your first initial of your first name.)
  40.        You must end the file name with the .QIF extension or PocketMoney won't download it.

  43. 4. Download data from desktop to Palm - TDF File Format
  44.     a. Create a TDF file for the PocketMoney conduit to download. The column
  45.        format is:
  46. Date<tab>TransactionType<tab>Folder<tab>Account<tab>Category<tab>Payee<tab>ChkNum<tab>Amount<tab>Xrate<tab>Cleared<tab>Memo<cr> 
  47.        *The best idea is to upload some transactions from PocketMoney to see 
  48.        the format it is looking for.
  49.     b. Save the export file in the "ToPalm" folder located in the user hotsync 
  50.        directory in the PocketMoney directory. "C:\Palm\SmithJ\PocketMoney\ToPalm". 
  51.        (SmithJ will be your personal hotsync directory and most likely be your 
  52.        last name and your first initial of your first name.)
  53.        You must end the file name with the .TDF extension or PocketMoney won't download it.

  56. 5. Upload data from Palm to Quicken or MS Money - QIF File Format
  57.      a. A file called PocketMoney.qif will be created in your user directory:
  58.        "C:\Palm\SmithJ\PocketMoney\FromPalm" directory.
  59.      c. Import the .qif file into Quicken or MS Money.
  60.     d. After you import the .qif file you should delete the PocketMoney.qif file 
  61.        from the FromPalm directory.

  63. 6. Upload data from Palm - TDF File Format
  64.      a. A file called PocketMoney.tdf will be created in your user directory:
  65.        "C:\Palm\SmithJ\PocketMoney\FromPalm" directory.
  66.      c. Import the .tdf file into a spreadsheet or database.
  67.     d. After you import the .tdf file you should delete the PocketMoney.tdf file 
  68.        from the FromPalm directory.

  71. *** NOTE to Windows Users: If PocketMoney is not saving your PocketMoney Conduit settings then you  need to delete the old Windows Registry setting for PocketMoney. Open RegEdit.exe (Choose Run from the Start Menu and enter RegEdit.exe). Then select HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop\ApplicationP$ and delete it.

  73. **To uninstall the current version of the PocketMoney Conduit you need to run RegEdit and delete the registry setting: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop\ApplicationPocketMoney
