  10. This document provides information about this Beta version of the
  11. Natara DayNotez journal application for Windows and the Palm 
  12. Computing platform.

  27. Thank you for participating in the beta test of the
  28. Natara DayNotez Windows companion application. 
  29.

  40. DayNotez installs in a 30 day evaluation mode.  The
  41. full product feature set is avaialable for your use.  After
  42. 30 days the conduit will no longer synchronize DayNotez
  43. until a product registration code is entered.

  46. 2.0  Quick Start Steps
  47. ============================================================

  49. The following steps will get you up and running with DayNotez.
  50.  
  51. 1) Open the downloaded Zip file and extract all the files
  52.    into a temporary directory.  Run the setup program from 
  53.    that location.  Or, if you have downloaded the 
  54.    self-extracting Zip file, run that executable and follow
  55.    the instructions.
  56.  
  57. 2) At the completion of the install script an option is
  58.    provided to install the application on your Palm OS device.
  59.    Select that option.  If you have multiple Palm Users defined
  60.    on your desktop, a selection list will be displayed.  Pick
  61.    the user where you want to install DayNotez.  Click the
  62.    Done button when the Install Tool dialog is displayed.

  64. 3) Perform a HotSync.  The DayNotez application is now installed 
  65.    on your handheld and ready for use.
  66.  
  67. 4) After making entries on the Palm, synchronize again.
  68.  
  69. 5) Run the desktop application either by double clicking the 
  70.    DayNotez icon in the folder opened by install, or by the
  71.    start menu item found on "Start->Programs->Natara Software".

  74. 3.0  Uninstalling
  75. ============================================================

  77. Use the Add-Remove Programs control panel document to
  78. uninstall DayNotez from your desktop.

  82. 4.0  Product Limitations and Requirements
  83. ============================================================

  85. 1) DayNotez requires the Jet OLE DB driver version 4 or above.
  86.    You can download the latest version of the Microsoft Data 
  87.    Access Components from http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm.
  88.    The required driver was included in MDAC version 2.1.
  89. 2) Requires Palm OS 3.x or greater.
  90. 3) Requires HotSync Manager version 3.0 or greater.
  91. 4) 15 Category limit.
  92. 5) Each note is limited to 32K.

  102.   Preference for setting the background color of the 3 different entry views. 
  103.   Page Setup is now persistent. Use the Page Setup menu item 
  104.     on the main application to retain margin settings. 
  105.   Status Bar now has a new look, including Caps/Nums lock 
  106.     indicators. 
  107.   Added hot-key Ctrl-S to "Save Entry" for quicker saves. 
  108.   Added preference for Spell Check window to now "jump" around the 
  109.     screen if you would prefer it to remain stationary. 
  110.   Status Bar now has current date/time, which, when clicked, 
  111.     does the equivalent of a "Go To Today"

  113. Fixed:
  114.   Contol-Click in Custom grid now works reliably 
  115.   Verification of Jet OLE 4.0 drivers now is "read-only" 
  116.     which helps people using the desktop in an environment 
  117.     where they had no write privilege to certain registry entries. 
  118.   DayView now works for those experiencing problems due to 
  119.     MDAC 2.6 updates (Microsoft broke this with their 2.6 MDAC release...) 
  120.   Category Names now restricted to 15 characters as is on 
  121.     the device side (Palm rule). 
  122.   Printing now reliable with longer entries. Previously, long 
  123.     DayNotez entries would print a couple of blank pages, then 
  124.     print the entry and run off the bottom of the page. 
  125.   Printing now reliably updates changes made when making Page 
  126.     Setup changes in print preview. 
  127.   Tabs now print properly 
  128.   User name now prints properly 
  129.   Added a space output after quick time, date, and bullet 
  130.     for better formatting 
  131.   Entry Tab toolbar no longer wraps/jumps. 
  132.   "Save Entry" on Entry Tab has been changed to just an icon, plus 
  133.     now a menu item. 
  134.   DateNav list (on left) now properly updates when deleting entries. 
  135.   Set smaller tab settings for Entry and Preview Pane. 
  136.   The DayView navigation arrows now properly reflects the start 
  137.     and end of the list.
