- <p>Once you have moved all your counters back to your home board,
- you can begin bearing off. If you are well ahead, you may well have
- trapped one of more of your opponent's pieces. In this case,
- play cautiously. Do not expose a blot unless absolutely necessary.
- Always try to ensure a balanced, even number of counters on your highest points.

- <p>If you are in no danger, you want to bear off in as few moves as possible.
- If you cannot bear a piece off with a move, use it to move a piece onto a space,
- or to remove excess counters from a point which has more than others.
