  56. Thank you for taking the time to look at Printer's Apprentice 7.0, the
  57. best font manager around. This file contains information about the
  58. software, pricing and technical support. Instructions for quickly
  59. installing Printer's Apprentice are also included. The software
  60. manual is contained in an online help file (pa.hlp).

  62. Printer's Apprentice is a comprehensive, 32 bit font manager for Windows 95.
  63. We have designed it to be the best Windows font manager available today.
  64. With this software you can examine your TrueType and ATM font collection,
  65. print a variety of elegant font sample sheets and catalogs
  66. and install/uninstall fonts. Printer's Apprentice really shines when used
  67. with uninstalled fonts located on CD-ROMs or disks. You can preview
  68. uninstalled fonts with a few mouse clicks. Printer's Apprentice can also
  69. print ultra-sharp catalog listings from CDs without installing a single
  70. font.

  87. III. A MESSAGE FOR USERS OF PRINTER'S APPRENTICE 6.1a AND EARLIER VERSIONS
  88. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  89. Two issues have come up that have convinced us it is time to change   
  90. our upgrade policies.
  91.  
  92. First, the Internet is both good and bad. On more than one occasion our
  93. technical support people have spoken with individuals who mentioned that 
  94. codes for commercial and shareware packages are available on hacker Web 
  95. sites. Both large and small software companies cannot afford to be 
  96. ripped off by these people. 
  97.  
  98. Second, for many years Lose Your Mind Development had a policy of 
  99. unlimited upgrades. As long as you had the registration code, you could 
  100. continue to download upgrades and disable the nag screens. Ordering new 
  101. diskettes and manuals was optional. The Windows 95 version took over a 
  102. year to develop and test. It was close to a 100% rewrite of old code. 
  103. Without upgrade revenue, we will not be able to support this product or 
  104. continue future development.

  106. What does this mean to you? 
  107. 1) Is this the first time you have used Printer's Apprentice? Then we
  108.    hope you enjoy the software and do consider registering this
  109.    program.

  111. 2) If you purchased 6.5 or upgraded to 6.5 via one of our mailings, then
  112.    you are entitled to a free upgrade to version 7.0.

  114. 3) If you are a registered user of 6.1a or previous versions, then you
  115.    will notice that the registration code does not work. We hope that
  116.    you will help support this product.

  136. will be. Simply, minor upgrades will always be free. We owe it to the 
  137. users to fix bugs, etc. Major upgrades of the software will most likely

  142. IV. INSTALL/UNINSTALL AND SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  143. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  144. To install Printer's Apprentice, you need a computer running Windows 95, 98 or
  145. Windows NT 4.0. We recommend at least a Pentium class machine with 16 megabytes
  146. of memory.

  148. This version of the software does not require the Visual Basic run time
  149. file (VB40032.DLL OR VBRUN300.DLL). 
  150.

  154.         To install Printer's Apprentice 
  155.         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  156.         1. Create a temporary directory and unzip the distribution
  157.            .ZIP file to that directory.
  158.         2. Double click the SETUP.EXE icon found in that temporary
  159.            directory. This program will install Printer's Apprentice on 
  160.            your computer.
  161.         3. After you have installed Printer's Apprentice, you can delete
  162.            the temporary directory and the SETUP.EXE file.
  163.         4. We recommend placing the distribution .ZIP file on a backup
  164.            floppy in case you need to reinstall Printer's Apprentice.

  166. After Printers' Apprentice is installed, run the software by choosing the
  167. Printer's Aprentice icon on the Start menu.
  168.  
  169. If you need to uninstall this software, use the Start Menu to select
  170. the Uninstall item from the Printer's Apprentice group.

  289. your system. When copying OCX/DLL files, setup compares the 
  290. source file version with what any existing versions on your
  291. computer. If the file exists and is newer, setup does not
  292. copy the file. If the version number is equal or older, then

  294. placed in a Printer's Apprentice\Backup folder.

  323. the path where the software is installed. This information
