UPDATE NOTES FOR EXISTING USERS OF COSWORTH/PANTHER
---------------------------------------------------
Thanks for sticking with us for version 2.00. This version contains
numerous improvements to version 1.xx listed as follows;
- Internal protocols; Xmodem/XmodemCRC, Xmodem1K, Xmodem1KG, Ymodem,
YmodemG, Zmodem (including automatic downloads) and Kermit.
- Hugely expanded script language including sounds control
IF..THEN..ELSE..ENDIFF, WHILE..WEND and REPEAT..UNTIL conditional
clauses, GOTO..LABEL structures, the ability to run *any* DOS command
or program, unconditional script halting, warning boxes, message
boxes, log file messages, printer control, macro control (which gives
the script the ability to control any aspect of PANTHER the user
wishes it to have), the ability to link from one script file to
another automatically, assorted emulations of internal DOS commands
and assorted functions to be used in conjunction with the conditional
aspects of the language including question boxes, tests for time of
day or day of the week, file presence/absence, screen contents and
present macro execution.
There is also a script tracing facility allowing you to track the
logic of your script file as it is executed.
- Hugely improved keystroke macro system including control, arrow,
function and ALT+ key emulations and the ability to run a sepcific
macro from the command line.
- Machine independent timing.
- Scroll back buffer which automatically adjusts to the amount of
memory available as well as the ability to automatically dump the
buffer to disk after connection.
- Internal file lists for automatic transmission
- Complete IEMSI support including an internal IEMSI packet editor.
- VT52 and AVATAR emulations.
- Configurable serial ports with the ability to modify the address,
IRQ line and interrupt number.
- (Binary) Colour screen snapshots and an internal snapshot viewer.
- Enormously improved and intelligent timeslicing for running under
any of Windows 3.x, DESQview 2.xx, DoubleDOS, VMiX 2.xx, MultiDos
Plus 4.xx, DOS 5.0 Task Switcher, TaskView, TopView, OmniView,
Windows NT (who?) and (of course) the one and only OS/2 2.x.
- More informative directory displays.
- Script 'overwriting' to allow automatic relearning of existing
script files.
- A 'Raw logging' capture system which catches all characters
received, together with four internal emulation viewers.
To install PANTHER over an existing version 1.xx installation of
COSWORTH, simply copy the PANTHER.EXE file over your existing
COSWORTH.EXE one and rename all COSWORTH.* files to PANTHER.* - that's
all you have to do. Any changes to the configuration based on the new
features within version 2.00 can be handled as normal through
PANTHER's configuration menus. The dialling directory structure has
changed for version 2.00. PANTHER automatically detects this and
updates your dialling directory to the new format for you.
Other than that, it's just a matter of reading the docs. ;-)
