Almanac for Windows
Version 3.1
Changes and enhancements to Almanac since version 3.0:
** Almanac 3.1 requires Windows 3.1 or higher. All
compatibility code for Windows 3.0 has been
removed. Although Almanac 3.1 offers much more
than 3.0, our ZIP package is now about 25%
smaller! (We also offer a native 32-bit version
of Almanac for the Windows NT O/S that is fully
compatible with Almanac 3.1 data files).
** Several sizes of day binder printouts have been
added as options when printing from the day
calendar view. Choose from the following formats
printed on either Letter or A4 size paper:
1) Full-page portrait
2) Half-page landscape, one day per page
3) Half-page landscape, two days per page
In North America, the landscape formats print very
nicely to pre-punched Laser Organizer Pages by
Avery (part number 41357).
** A Phonebook tool has been added that tracks
phone numbers and addresses, dials numbers using
a Hayes compatible modem, and copies pre-formatted
addresses to the clipboard. Display by category,
search by name of individual OR organization.
** The format of the day view has been modified to
provide a new area which displays upcoming to do
items.
** Overlays may now be defined with default accent
settings. The default settings are accessed
by selecting Options.Overlays..., and then
selecting an overlay to Edit. Pushbuttons are
now available to set OR clear accents. Any
entry in an overlay that does not have specific
accents defined will be displayed using the
default accent settings for the overlay.
Entries that have accents defined for them will
override all default settings.
** Individual notes for the Schedule, To Do, and
Phonebook can now be printed. If the Notes
window contains text for anything other than
General Notes, you may select File.Print when
Notes is the active window to print a copy
of the current text.
** Several daily options have been added to the
Calendar Options dialog. Daily Julian date will
display the Julian date of the year and the days
remaining in the yesr. The Calendar Week option
shows the calendar week of the year. Also, a
late addition to version 3.0h allows the Almanac
section to be toggled on or off.
** Several users have requested that the sunrise and
sunset times be calculated more accurately. The
new algorithms are extremely accurate (should be
accurate to less than a minute). If you do not
have a math coprocessor you may notice a small
delay (less than a second) as the sunrise and
sunset times are painted. You may elect to turn
off the daily almanac section from the Calendar
Options dialog if you want to avoid the
calculation.
** Almanac can now be customized for a language
other than English to a large degree. All menu
selections, the content of calendar displays,
and all printouts can be customized through the
use of a language template file. Full info
is in the README.TXT file.
** A new option has been added to the Options.ToDo
dialog that will hide completed to do items in
the To Do tool window when the ToDo.View Pending
mode is being used. You must reopen the To Do
window for this option to take effect.
More information on all of Almanac's features can be
accessed directly from Almanac's Help menu.
