The maximum backup archive size has been expanded greatly from the previous 2.1 GB to 4 GB now. Both the preview operations and backup operations can now handle backup archives that are up to 4 GB in size.
Updating on Removable Devices:
------------------------------
If a user was low on hard drive space and was updating a backup on a removable device, the backup operation sometimes provided an error and would abort. Calculations of available hard drive space for temporary file writing have been improved and will fix these errors.
Multiple Disk Backups:
----------------------
Even when Backup Plus does not see a selected device as a 'Removable Device', Backup Plus will still allow the user to select this device and attempt to span backup archives over multiple disks. Note: This feature should be used with caution and does not guarantee that Backup Plus will be able to span the selected device.
Adding New Found Folders:
-------------------
Added an additional backup set option that allows the user to specify if the backup set should always include all found sub folders when backing up that particular set. This allows NEW sub folders that are found after the creation of the backup set, to be included in the backup as well. Note: This feature does not account for any removed sub folders in a backup set. More details on this feature are available in Backup Plus help.
Restore Operations:
-------------------
Restore operations have been improved with larger sets. There were occasions where large backup set tree structures were not being rebuilt properly and some files were out of sync in the directory tree listing. Operation is now faster and all files are placed in their proper places.
Registry Backup Option Addition:
--------------------------------
Users now have the option to create a Windows Startup Disk right at the Registry Backup menu, simply by clicking the option button.
Backup Archive Size Preview:
----------------------------
The Backup Archive Size Preview feature now automatically reads the size of the destination disk you are writing to and will tell you how many disks are required for that particular sized disk, instead of defaulting to the standard floppy disks as it did in previous versions.
Timed Backups Manager:
----------------------
The Timed Backups Manager has also been upgraded, to v5.1.2. Some users were encountering an endless loop when the Manager loaded if a past missed backup was being rescheduled by the Manager. This is now fixed.
